Unlock the vibrant potential of your printmaking practice in this immersive, three-day workshop dedicated to the art of the multi-plate photopolymer print. While single-plate printing offers a beautiful tonal range, working with multiple plates allows you to introduce a sophisticated world of color, depth, and atmospheric interest to your imagery. Throughout the session, participants will move beyond the basics to master the intricate workflow of preparing, exposing, and inking multiple plates for a single composition. You will learn the mechanical "magic" of precise registration—ensuring each layer aligns perfectly on the press—while exploring a variety of creative approaches to color theory in print.

Chine collé is a printmaking technique in which thin papers are bonded to a heavier support surface. This technique allows you to print on a much more delicate surface, which pull finer details off the plate. The appeal of this process lies in its translucency and spontaneity. Chine collé allows the printmaker to add layers of color and texture to their work.

In recognition of the Nuclear Past, Present, Future show currently up at the Hispanic Cultural Center Art Museum, we invite you to come join the Tabletop Peace Train!

This one day workshop, led by Stephanie Weiner () provides an intro to the creation of protest art through the medium of linocut relief carving and printing. All skill levels including beginners are welcome. The focus will be on carving the block, but will touch on the image transfer process, registration, reduction and collage techniques that will make your work pop!

Each person should come with an idea or photo on their phone of a person who is marching for peace or justice about any issue or from any time in history. In addition inspirational photos will be available at the time of the class. After we carve and print the images, we will cut them out and mount them on cardboard and a wood block to create a 3-dimensional figure.

Every participant will be able to take at least one print home along with their Linoleum plate, and leave one that will actually stand up to join the group parade on the table!

Chine collé is a technique used in printmaking in which thin papers are bonded to a heavier support surface. This technique allows you to print on a much more delicate surface, such as Japanese papers, which pull finer details off the plate. The appeal of this process lies in its translucency which creates a light that is different from the effect of painting on paper.

This is a great class for artists with some intaglio experience who want to add a new technique to their printmaking practice!
