From preservation to community ownership 🤍

Founded in 1883, the historic B. Ruppe Drugstore has long been a place of healing in Barelas. After thoughtfully restoring the building, Homewise is proud to have sold the property to its longtime tenant, Solamente Holistic Health — ensuring this culturally significant space remains rooted in community care.

This project reflects our commitment to making commercial investments with the intention of returning them to the community, supporting local entrepreneurs, and preserving the cultural legacy of Albuquerque’s neighborhoods.

We’re honored to see this next chapter continue the spirit of healing that has defined B. Ruppe Drugstore for generations.

‼️📢 Attention former and long time residents of Barelas!! Help preserve your family and neighborhood’s history-one photo at a time. Do you have old photos 📸 from Barelas? Photos of your home, neighborhood streets, local businesses or community events in th neighborhood? If so, share them with the on Sunday, February 22nd from 2pm-4pm in the Salon Ortega. They will be scanned on site and returned back to you and photos will digitally added to the NHCC’s Barelas Community Archive. Please share this post with anyone you know who’s from Barelas!

Throwback Thursday to when The Ruppe reopened in 2019. Mayor Keller officially proclaimed October 16, 2019 as "Ruppe Day". Happy Ruppe Day everyone!

Join us on our next ride, Paletas y Pedales! Registration and coffee at 10, ride out at 10:30. This will be a smooth 3 mile loop, 50/50 bike trails and calm neighborhood streets. We will stop to play and have Pop Fizz Paletas at the Barelas Community Center Park from 11:15-12:15. We will be back at Tingley Beach by 12:45. Bring water and a helmet! Kids, bring your ride cards!

For decades, the B Ruppe Drugstore was sought out by residents of Barelas and the greater Albuquerque area for both Western and natural healing practices. Now, will proudly continue that tradition by offering mental health services with a holistic approach for individuals and families.

“We will honor the history of the building by continuing to learn about Maclovia Zamora.  I feel we only know the surface of how magically she impacted the community of Barelas. There is still so much we need to explore about her legacy and the impressions she made on the people. The best way to do that is to listen to the stories of the community.” - Elisharose Trujillo, Solamente Holistic Health Founder

On Saturday, November 2nd, Solamente Holistic Health will be opening their doors to the public for Dia de Los Mu***os. Be sure to stop by and see this beautiful space in action!
