On January 20th, 2025, the White House issued an executive order that terminated federal diversity, equity, and inclusion programs and called for the elimination of heritage month celebrations, including Native American Heritage Month. This recognition has occurred every November in our country since President George H.W. Bush established it in 1990.

NMHIM is unwavering in our support of Indigenous communities everywhere. We remain committed to uplifting the diverse histories of New Mexico and the United States.
