This Week at the Ten Broeck Mansion: We welcomed visitors from across the US and Canada—including three busloads of visitors from the Buick Club of America. Their members shared insights that may help us identify a historic Olcott family automobile once chauffeured by a member of the Marx family (current lead: a Pierce-Arrow—have research leads? Let us know!). Our tours included An Ongoing Revolution: Black History at the Ten Broeck Mansion and our collaborative Freedom & Opportunity Immersion Tours, now in their 6th year with the Irish American Heritage Museum and the Underground Railroad Education Center. Our dedicated garden volunteers worked tirelessly to prepare the grounds for our full‑to‑capacity Hopeless Romantics Arts & Culture Festival - an entirely free, day-long festival. Led by Dr. Tammy Ellis-Robinson, visitors wrote poetry inspired by the gardens and heard the powerful words of poet Phyllis Wheatley. We explored Romantic‑era motifs in our art and furnishings through a special art history tour. We were thrilled to welcome Eli Pafumi, Miriam Weisfeld, and performing artists from the REP for a musical exploration of Romanticism, sharing selections from The Magi. The incomparable Shiri Zorn and Chad McLoughlin closed the day with the coolest jazz on a warm summer afternoon. Our busy tours continued - we offered over 20 tours this week alone, and we welcomed back a family from Michigan making their fifth visit to the Mansion during their annual summer travels. How do we make all this happen? Thanks to our dedicated, hardworking staff and volunteers who bring history to life every single day. We also thank our generous funders: NYSCA, Fairgames Grant, and the Music Performance Fund, plus members of the ACHA like you.
