Just over here kicking cancer’s butt!!! I have a care page that you can follow, I try and update it every few days, link: https://new.caringbridge.org/site/6e40d02a-05aa-11ef-9ffd-d9921bff7f17?utm_source=share&utm_medium=webm&utm_content=copylink_leftmenu_php
For those of you who do follow, and are not getting the update emails, check your care page account preferences.
Cancer can be a hard thing to talk about and even harder to talk about with your loved one who is going through their health journey. Below are a few ways you can communicate with the patient and their family. I have provided a link that can aid you in what to say and do during these times also. https://www.caringbridge.org/resources/what-to-say-to-someone-with-cancer/ Just a quick text, note, or card is an easy way to really cheer the patient up and let them know people are thinking of them and they care. I hope this helps!
We get asked a lot “what can we do to help”? With my immune system compromised we are trying to minimize contact with people, and I am trying to avoid public places. I have started a “Go Fund Me” page for those who have expressed the wish to help, link: https://gofund.me/741fddbe We need help with the daily grind of life, cleaning, meals, yardwork…. A few family/friends have, or are scheduled to clean the house, I have now hired a cleaning lady to keep that easy for me to schedule. I have been excepted into a meal plan program “Revive and Thrive Project”, and both John and I will receive very healthy nutritious meals for the next twelve weeks. John has been cutting the grass, but I could use help with the maintenance of my flower beds. We thank God everyday for all the love and support we have been getting from family, friends, and total strangers!!
Cycle 4, day one!!! I had a wonderful weekend with friends and family visiting. I like that summer can have gatherings outside, I am constantly being reminded about how low my immune system is. Currently having infusion and working on “My View from the Infusion Center”. Katherine and John are both here today. Still kicking cancers butt!!
Well, today was the last day to sign up for ArtPrize, and I did not. I’m sad because I always look forward to this event and the craziness that comes with it!! Like my husband says “you have a bigger project right now, and it’s you”! I am really trying to focus on taking care of myself and kicking cancers butt!! I work in my sketchbook a lot during treatments and try to get into my studio when I can. Art is my therapy. Thank you all for the encouragement, well wishes, and prayers.
As requested by those who live far away or can’t physically help, I have started a gofundme to help out with our daily life. All the burden of running the household has fallen on my husband John’s shoulders, and I would like to lighten his load. Never more then now will “Let Go, Let God” be my mantra! Allowing Him to do his good work in me through the doctors, and the love of my family and friends.
Thank you,
Love,
Judy
Hi, my name is Judy and I am going through a cancer journey. I have … Judy Steiner needs your support for Help Judy Lighten the Load During Her Cancer Journey
They can’t take my art away!! 🎨. Being on an immunotherapy drug has extremely compromised my immune system. I developed a fever last night which gave me a ticket to the ER. Admitted this morning to observe me for infection. Slowly excepting that I can no longer garden, have house plants or cut flowers in the house, or have my dog sleep with me anymore. I need to stay out of public places and basically stay in my home. I’m so glad I can do my art…..it is my therapy. Thank you for all the well wishes and prayers I have been receiving. I love hearing from you all. One day at a time! God has this.
A fun craft project on a chilly morning at the lake with Aunt Judy. ☔️
In the chair for the last day of cycle two!! Whooo. I have been working on this monstera leaf trio in my sketchbook during treatments, and I finished it this morning. Love the bright glowing through the ivory background. Positive Vibes, One Day at a Time!
Woke up early and finished up this little mixed media floral. I love the free, quick, sketchy quality of this piece.
One day at a time. Finishing up day 3, cycle one, of my chemotherapy. This week has been good, tired on infusion days, a little more energy the day after (probs due to the steroids ). I have enjoyed bringing my art supplies and keeping busy with them.
A little different studio set up today! It’s been a whirlwind of a Spring with tests and surgeries. Last month I was diagnosed with T-Cell Prolymphocytic Leukemia, a rare and aggressive form of blood cancer. Today is my first medical infusion…..long day. I will have infusion therapy 3 times a week for the next 12-14 weeks. When in remission I will have a bone marrow transplant. I’m so glad I have my husband to be able to stay home and care for me!!! ( can we get some icecream after this?!) Thankful for my God, family, friends, art, and the Grand Rapids Medical Mile!!
Do not take anything for granted…..time, love, family, friends, your freedom…..count your blessings everyday! Positive Vibes!!!
Thank you for all the input on how I should finish these floral prints. I went with the matching colors on the large teal one, and white in the other two. I love how these turned out! Available as prints, DM me for info.
What I see in my kitchen everyday for inspiration. I will stay positive today, and take one day at a time.
Played around in my sketchbook with some collage yesterday. I love the peachy tones and green together.
A little positive inspiration collage. Inspired by

All works in progress…While waiting for the collage makers summit 2024, I’m working on a series. Made a pile of collage papers with a limited palette.
While waiting for the Collage Makers Summit 2024 to begin, I am working on the 2023 inspirations. This prompt by was “Making the Most of Your Photos”. I just finished a class by and had lots of high contrast material to work with. This was fun and challenging, working in a series on 4x5” cards, I learned to keep them cohesive, using the same papers, colors, and mediums. I used photos of paintings that I had on my camera and printed them high contrast. Can’t wait to do more in this style.
Had the best Bloody Mary while in Florida last week!! It was a whole meal!!
Day 9/30 of The 30 day sketchbook challenge. Today’s prompt: “Changes and limitations”. How can I change the way I work? Limit my palette, limit my time on a piece, work in a way I usually don’t. I decided to do this in a 30 minute time frame with a limited color palette of red, brown, dk blue, pink, & white. I am doing the free prompts challenge, which can be found:
Day 6/30 of The 30 day sketchbook challenge. Today’s prompt: “Colour Cues”. I chose a neutral color palette with a pop of orange/yellow collage at the end. I am doing the free prompts challenge, which can be found:
Looking for an accountant , knowing about artist business is a plus. Thank you in advance.
Day 3/30 of The 30 day sketchbook challenge. Today’s prompt: “BREAK SOME RULES”. I am loving the warm color palette, (probably because Michigan, US is so dreary right now), so I decided to choose 5 squares of scrap paper and make a box with my focal point snap dab in the middle! I think it worked…I actually love this little piece! I am doing the free prompts challenge, which can be found:
