The Transforming Relief: A Stunning Projection Experience in Istanbul

Finally, we are excited to share the details of one of our coolest projects that we are extremely proud of!

We collaborated on creating a unique lighting experience for the Pixi restaurant in Istanbul, alongside the talented design team from Denis Belenko studio.

The concept of the restaurant emphasizes natural elements. For example, soft clouds with sunset projections dance across a relief wall, while the ceiling uses media lighting and smooth transitions to recreate the feeling of an evening sky and the movement of clouds.

The content has been carefully selected to change like the weather—ranging from tropical rain to an African sunset. To achieve the cloud effect on the ceiling, the team experimented extensively with light in the office, developing 3D modules in the form of honeycombs that allow light to pass through beams, just as it naturally happens in the sky.

A focal point of the restaurant's design is "The Cloud," a sculpture created in collaboration with Valerii Kuznetsov, which pulses with light in harmony with the space. The projection for the relief wall was specifically designed for this venue, with each leaf hand-painted by the designers. To ensure precision, a detailed 3D digital model of the wall was created.

And that’s not all! Later in the evening, Pixi transforms into a club with a distinct atmosphere. DJ performances are accompanied by generative and sound-reactive graphics projected onto the art wall, changing in response to the music. As the night begins, the lights fade, and a true "thunderstorm" emerges—dark clouds, fog, laser lightning, and the sounds of thunder.

The Light Incarnation of Buddha 🪷

Working on this sculpture became a true creative challenge for the team. Together with architect Volodymyr Nepiyvoda, they convinced the client to take a bold step — to move away from the traditional golden statue and create a holographic Buddha instead.

After hundreds of experiments, a parametric sculpture was born. It was masterfully realized by the Dnipro-based glass artisans Вилла Декор, led by Vadym Myronenko.

The key challenge was the nature of glass itself: transparent glass allows projection to pass through, while a fully frosted surface would diminish the beauty of the material. The solution emerged through close collaboration — only the edges of the glass slabs were frosted. This allowed the Buddha to function as a media surface for artistic projections while preserving the natural attraction of the layered glass structure.

To bring the sculpture to life, the team designed two lighting modes. A grazing light reveals the layered structure of the glass and creates a subtle aura around the statue. In parallel, laser media projection transforms the Buddha into a holographic figure, producing a powerful emotional effect.

These modes transition into one another every 15 minutes with a smooth crossfade. The media content was carefully curated to remain visually engaging without overwhelming visitors during longer stays in the bar.

The first mode, “Radiant Light,” emphasizes the sculptural form using a complex track system of directional luminaires with different optics positioned at multiple angles. RGB light sources installed beneath the statue create a mystical colored aura around the figure.

The second mode is a projection scenario that uses three laser projectors synchronized by custom software. Through a collision-style visual effect, the Buddha appears to gain additional depth — as if entering a fourth dimension. The projections never fully cover the sculpture; instead, they occupy approximately 30–70% of its surface, preserving the balance between the physical glass object and the digital layer.

The lighting design was carefully balanced so the background remains softly illuminated without overpowering the sculpture itself. At the same time, the lighting ensures visitors have enough illumination to take photogenic photos next to the Buddha.
Special thanks to YOD Group for the collaboration. ✨

A unique light-glass sculpture of our own production

Our team takes particular pleasure in implementing projects involving individual work with glass in our glassblowing workshop, Optical Metaphor, with a personalized creative approach to each request and space.

This is how the light glass sculpture was born in one of the towers of the modern Bartolomeo Resort Town in our native Dnipro.

In this work, the modules are made in the form of frosted glass “pancakes” of various shapes, gathered in clusters resembling clouds in the sky. This is how we emphasized the connection between Sky Tower and nature and the lightness of airspace.

Each element was created by hand. We combined scales, glossy and matte coatings, and experimented with the texture of glass so that it would reveal itself as deeply as possible in directed light. It is the combination of different textures that gives the effects their multi-layered quality — from soft diffusion to delicate light accents.💡

The result is a unique chandelier with a light composition that fills the space with the plasticity of light, adds depth, and shapes the atmosphere.✨

We created a massive 3D Mapping Projection for a Restaurant in the Heart of Kyiv

The venue itself benefits from a remarkable panoramic view and is located in the very heart of Kyiv, just steps away from the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. This unique context strengthens the sense of place, connecting the interior atmosphere with the cultural and historical landscape of the city.

At the moment, a 3D mapping projection has been created on a uniquely shaped surface made of natural split stone. The content flows seamlessly across the relief, using light and motion to reveal the depth, texture, and irregular geometry of the material. Rather than masking the surface, the projection celebrates it—transforming the wall into a living, tactile canvas where visuals respond to every ridge and shadow. The animation is carefully synchronized to the architecture, allowing the story to unfold organically across the stone and enhancing the spatial perception of the interior.

For every project, tailored lighting strategies are developed. In this restaurant, a top-tier lighting concept with biodynamic scenarios has been implemented to ensure visitors feel comfortable at any time of the day. Brightness levels, contrast, and accent lighting were precisely calibrated for daytime, evening, and nighttime modes, creating a seamless transition of atmosphere that supports both dining and social experiences.

A signature element of the space is the system of caustic light spheres, which project dynamic water-like reflections that softly animate surrounding surfaces. This effect introduces movement, depth, and a subtle emotional layer, reinforcing the feeling of relaxation and immersion.

The custom chandelier serves as a central design feature and a visual anchor of the interior. Its sculptural form and carefully engineered light distribution balance decorative presence with functional illumination, unifying the spatial composition while maintaining a refined and elegant ambiance.

We are sincerely grateful to our clients Elevato for the trust and the opportunity to work on such top-tier and truly unique projects.

We honor Ukrainian soldiers with memorial lights

Four years of full-scale war have been a test for every Ukrainian. These have been years of loss and pain, but also of resilience, strength, and unity. During these days, it is especially important to remember those who gave their lives for Ukraine, to support those who are defending it today, and to keep the light within ourselves.

With this goal in mind, on the second anniversary of the full-scale invasion, we created the Cross of Heroes memorial in Vyshhorod — a unique space of remembrance and gratitude to those who gave their lives for their homeland and to all those who continue to defend it every day.

This project is a totally new approach to memorialization: it creates an environment where form follows substance, and light becomes a way to experience memory and unity.

The image is based on the Cossack cross, a symbol of victory and protection. We manifested it in three dimensions: in paving, in spatial inversion, and in light interaction with the viewer. The memorial is open on four sides so that everyone can enter the cross and feel their connection to shared history. Immersive work with light, mirrored surfaces, and space creates an experience that can be experienced live and in a digital environment.

This project was made possible thanks to close collaboration with Andriy Vavrysh, Oleksandr Gorgan, and Taras Valakh, the patronage of the Father Tyt Voynarovsky Foundation, and the blessing of His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.

Today, as the struggle continues, memory becomes our strength, unity our support, and light our symbol of faith in the future. We believe in victory. And we believe that light will surely triumph over darkness. Glory to Ukraine!

When Light, Art, and Architecture speak as one ✨🏛️

At the intersection of architecture, light, and digital media, contemporary public spaces are no longer static. They operate as living systems — responsive, adaptive, and emotionally engaging.
For Zenyk Art Gallery, we developed not just a media installation, but a fully integrated light ecosystem where facade, media screen, and fountain operate as one synchronized organism.

The fountain became a key spatial and symbolic element of this composition. Its sculptural surface and fluid geometry are enhanced through carefully calibrated lighting that emphasizes depth, rhythm, and tactility. Light does not simply illuminate the form — it reveals movement within stillness and introduces a dynamic dialogue between shadow and flow.

What defines this project technically is the synchronization architecture. The media screen, the fountain lighting, and the facade illumination are unified within a single control logic. Content scenarios extend beyond the screen and propagate into physical space — translating digital motion into luminous waves across the fountain wall and subtle media transitions along the balcony grid of the facade.

This synchronization allows the entire building to function as one responsive canvas. During events, the media center adapts in real time — supporting lectures, presentations, performances, and curated visual narratives. In everyday mode, artistic generative content developed by Expolight Arts by Expolight flows seamlessly from screen to architecture to water feature, creating an immersive spatial experience rather than isolated visual accents.

From an engineering perspective, this required precise programming of lighting fixtures, custom optical solutions, and scenario-based control via our dedicated application. The result is a cohesive media-art environment where digital content, architectural light, and sculptural water elements communicate through a shared rhythm.

We would like to sincerely thank the entire Zenyk Art Gallery team—Zinoviy Kozytskyi, Liubomyr Bashynskyi, and Khrystyna Beregovska for their trust and for giving us the opportunity to contribute to the creation of such a distinctive space. Their openness to integrated art-and-technology solutions made it possible to develop a cohesive system where the fountain, media screen, and facade lighting operate as one — and to deliver an environment that feels both technically precise and emotionally alive.

We create media art that inspires the future leaders of our country✨

We had the pleasure of designing and delivering a flagship feature for this project: a corporate media-art brand wall—an architectural-scale LED screen that has become the school’s visual signature and a key point of attraction in the space. More than a display, it functions as a living communication platform that unites brand identity, art, interaction, and everyday operations in one system.

The media wall was developed as a multi-mode environment with five core functions:

- Generative media-art installations — curated, evolving visuals that translate USHU’s key principles and virtues into a contemporary artistic language, reinforcing the school’s philosophy through atmosphere rather than slogans.

- Interactive “sense selfie” zone — an experiential photo and video point powered by a dedicated app, turning student engagement into a natural part of the interior narrative.

- Event posters and announcements — a dynamic content layer for the school’s program and community life, updated quickly and consistently.

- Presentations and talks — a mode designed for lectures, keynotes, and internal communications, with fast запуск and control via the same app.

- Flexible content switching — seamless transitions between functions, allowing the screen to adapt instantly to the school’s rhythm: study, community gatherings, events, and informal moments.

The main objective was to use the media wall as a tool for meaning: to reveal USHU’s values through art, create a recognizable visual language, and give the school a technological “signature” that students and visitors immediately associate with the place.

In parallel, a flexible lighting system was implemented to support the same idea of adaptability—easily transforming the atmosphere for corporate sessions, informal discussions, and rest, while keeping the space cohesive and contemporary.

A striking 7-meter glass column in the historic interior of Lviv

The fusion of craft and controllable technology is what defines contemporary interior lighting. In this venue, Expolight delivered a 7-meter custom glass column with integrated illumination and scene-based control.

At the heart of the space stands a 7-meter illuminated glass column, handcrafted by the creative glassblowing studio Optical Metaphor. More than a decorative feature, it functions as a true lighting core of the interior—a vertical focal point that emphasizes the architecture and sets the emotional tone of the entire venue.

The column features integrated internal lighting and operates as a scenographic art object: thanks to the optical properties of glass, light “lives” inside the volume, creating depth, soft gradients, and a layered texture. Multiple lighting scenes are programmed to transition throughout the day—from calm daytime modes to more expressive evening atmospheres—supporting the venue’s rhythm and guest comfort.

In addition, the system enables tailored lighting scenes for specific events. For every occasion, a dedicated look can be set up quickly—adjusting intensity, color accents, and dynamics—while keeping the column synchronized with the venue’s overall lighting environment.

All lighting is integrated via Expolight Cloud Control and managed through a dedicated app, enabling centralized control, instant scene switching, and flexible adaptation to different operational scenarios.

The most complex interactive lighting system for one of the tallest towers in the world

The Yerevan TV Tower Yerevan TV Tower is a unique project due to the combination of the structure’s scale, its symbolic significance for the city, and the highest level of technological solutions implemented in the project.

The project has received widespread recognition and positive feedback, not only from Yerevan residents but also from the international professional community. This recognition was highlighted by a feature in ARC Magazine — one of the world’s leading professional publications in architectural lighting design.

The main concept of the project was to reinterpret Yerevan’s landmark as a modern beacon of light — a new visual identity for the city, visible from over 10 kilometers away and instantly recognizable from any point in the capital.

At the core of the solution are unique long-range laser systems, specially developed by our team for this location. They provide clear visibility over significant distances and are fully integrated with aviation regulations and air traffic control systems.

The lasers operate within precisely defined spatial corridors and modes, ensuring absolute safety and causing no interference with aviation, becoming a carefully calibrated element of the city’s skyline.

To ensure constant dynamism, an automated content generation system was implemented based on real-time city data — including traffic flows, sunset times, temperature, and wind. As a result, the tower never looks the same twice.

A key element of the project is symbolism. The musical laser show contains encrypted light messages that users can select through a specially developed interactive app, engaging directly with the tower.

We express our gratitude to our partners for bringing this large-scale project to life: Emil Chatinyan, Termoprotect, and the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia

A physical and digital model of our favorite project in our native Dnipro 🌟❤️🇺🇦

"Dnipro Light Flowers" is the world's largest post-industrial light installation, operating as a single system.

We connected thirteen factory pipes scattered across the entire panorama of the city's left bank over a distance of 7 km with a complex control system into a single synchronized laser light system. 💡

In our light lab, we created a physical-digital model of the pipes — detailed 3D models onto which we project images and lasers and test graphics.

The project was implemented before the full-scale war, and, unfortunately, it did not have a long life. But we dream and believe that the Dnipro Light Flowers will soon bloom again with light ✨🇺🇦

Ukrainian glass art objects — winners of the LIT Lighting Design Awards 2025 🌟

For the fourth year in a row, our team has been recognized at the highest level by one of the world’s leading lighting design competitions — the LIT Lighting Design Awards (Switzerland).

In 2025, we received 8 wins across various categories, along with 4 Honorable Mentions 🎉

It is especially meaningful for us that the international jury recognized three Ukrainian projects in the glass design category — a field in which we work not merely as manufacturers, but as glass artists.

These are hand-crafted glass art objects that we design and create in our workshop Optical Metaphor, each with its own individuality, character, and soul. We personally produce every glass element, combining different sizes, finishes, and ways light interacts with glass.

🏆 Award-winning projects in the category:

🥇 Glass Light Column at LU Restaurant, Lviv

We created a 7-meter-tall accent light core of the space — a true work of art. Its multilayered texture and delicate glass threads form the effect of a cascading light waterfall, while integrated lighting allows for dynamic scenarios throughout the day.

For the VIP area, we also designed a caustic luminaire that creates living, smoke-like and wave patterns on the ceiling.
