在高樓林立、霓虹閃爍的城市之中，香港攝影師黎國輝（Mathew Lai）以黑白影像凝視都市生活的真實面貌。Mathew 將於 2025 年 11 月 8 日至 23 日與Avocado合作，舉辦其於台灣的首個個展《混凝土的人 Concrete Drifter》，他以冷靜的鏡頭描繪當代都市的孤獨與秩序，紀錄著人們存在「混凝土」建構的都市叢林裡，如何適應、反之凝視。

Mathew 長期專注於都市影像敘事，並活躍於香港攝影社群，多次擔任「香港街頭攝影展」策展人。他的作品屢獲國際肯定，包括 Bruxelles Art Vue《Street Life 2022》、連續三年入選 International Photography Awards（IPA 2022–2024），以及 2024 Re-Focus Award。

Amid the towering skyline and neon-lit streets, Hong Kong photographer Mathew Lai observes the authentic face of urban life through black-and-white imagery. From 8 to 23 November 2025, in collaboration with Avocado, Mathew will present his first solo exhibition in Taiwan, “Concrete Drifter,” where his composed lens portrays the solitude and order of contemporary cities. His work records how people navigate—and, in turn, contemplate—the urban jungle shaped by “concrete.”

Mathew has long focused on visual narratives of the metropolis and remains an active figure in Hong Kong’s photography community, serving multiple times as curator of the Hong Kong Street Photography Exhibition. His work has earned consistent international recognition, including selection for Bruxelles Art Vue’s Street Life 2022, three consecutive years in the International Photography Awards (IPA 2022–2024), and the 2024 Re-Focus Award.

在高樓林立、霓虹閃爍的城市之間，黎國輝以黑白影像凝視都市生活的真實樣貌——
他關注人如何在混凝土構築的空間裡穿行、停留與漂浮。

該系列作品去除色彩的誘惑，讓光影成為唯一語言。在那些光影交錯的街道裡，我們看見孤獨，也看見秩序；看見喧鬧，也看見靜默的呼吸。

《混凝土的人》不只是關於香港，也折射出台灣與亞洲城市的共同經驗。

橋墩、街角、高速公路與夜色——那些鋼筋水泥的肌理，
是時代的記憶，也是人與城市共生的痕跡。

Avocado presents Hong Kong photographer Mathew Lai's first solo exhibition in Taiwan :《Concrete Drifter 》

Amidst towering skyscrapers and shimmering neon lights, Mathew Lai captures the raw essence of urban life through black-and-white imagery.

His lens observes how people move, pause, and drift within spaces built of concrete.
Stripped of color’s seduction, light and shadow become his only language.

Along those intersecting streets of brightness and darkness, we see solitude and order, noise and stillness—each breathing quietly within the city.

Concrete Drifter is not only about Hong Kong; it also reflects the shared experiences of Taiwan and many Asian metropolises.

Overpasses, street corners, highways, and the night itself—these concrete textures embody the memory of an era and trace the coexistence between humanity and the city.

▮ 新展開幕 -《非（自然）風景》

Avocado 與 The Studio 共同呈現的最新展覽《非（自然）風景》將於5月3日開幕！由策展人『Cesar Reyes』策劃，將展出藝術家『羅晟文』與『陳向一』多個系列作品。

羅晟文的作品聚焦人與動物間錯綜複雜的互動關係，特別是觀看、照護與控制之間曖昧而矛盾的界線。他取材自動物園、研究中心等介於保育與囚禁之間的場域，試圖喚起觀者對「關懷」與「控制」之間微妙關係的思辨。

陳向一則以宇宙歷史與科技手段為線索，重構景觀的多重層次。他運用攝影與數位媒材，挖掘空間中被遺忘或隱匿的敘事—移動、監控與轉變，讓影像成為閱讀空間與時代交織痕跡的媒介。

本展邀請觀者重新審視風景：它不只是自然的呈現，更是一種文化的生成場域。藉由兩位藝術家的雙重視角，風景不再是靜默的背景，而是充滿張力的當代現場，引發我們對「自然」本質與其定義的再思考。

The latest exhibition Un(natural) Landscapes, presented jointly by Avocado and The Studio, will open on May 3. Curated by Cesar Reyes, the exhibition will feature multiple series of works by artists Sheng-Wen Lo and Mark Chen.

Sheng-Wen Lo’s practice engages the anthropocentric and contradictory relationships between non-humans and societies. Through settings such as zoos and captive conservation programs, his works critically examine the ways animals are displayed, monitored, and managed—where boundaries between protection and control blur.

In Mark Chen’s exhibit, "Pilgrimage of Light”, he explores the mysterious coexistence of space, time and people by projecting NASA’s galactic image on landscapes. His series entitled Pilgrimage of Light bears witness to the meaning of deep time by comparing the celestial look back time and geologic age.

Together, Lo and Chen invite us to see landscapes not just as backdrops, but as active spaces—shaped by politics, culture, and personal experience. Their work asks us to reconsider what’s “natural,” and what that word really means in today’s world.

Avocado is honored to collaborate with the culinary art brand “The Studio” to present our latest exhibition: Un(natural) Landscapes. The exhibition will open on May 3 at 3:00 PM and will run through August 3.

Un (Natural) Landscapes brings together the work of Sheng-Wen Lo and Mark Chen, two artists who explore how the world around us—especially the natural world—is shaped, controlled, and sometimes distorted by human influence.

▮ 藝術家 #沈昭良受邀參與 Art Central 展會特別講座 (English Below)

本次Avocado參加香港Art Central博覽會除了展出多位知名藝術家作品外，其中參展藝術家沈昭良也很榮幸的受邀參與由 Art Central舉辦的展會講座《當藝術遇見現實：藝術表達與社會紀實的交會》

講座將由知名新聞工作者 Claudia Hinterseer 主持，特邀藝術家沈昭良、黃禾璧與獨立策展人周佩霞，共同探討創意攝影與文化記錄之間的交匯。

沈昭良將講述其對臺灣社會變遷的深刻視覺紀錄；周佩霞將分享她對性別議題與社會敘事的學術見解；黃禾璧則透過其富有張力的建築影像，探討建構與真實之間的矛盾。而 Hinterseer 將憑藉其豐富的視覺敘事經驗，引領探討攝影的雙重能力：同時反映並詮釋我們錯綜複雜的世界。

For this edition of Art Central Hong Kong, Avocado is proud to present works by several renowned artists, including participating artist Shen Chao-Liang, who has been honored with an invitation to speak at an official Art Central forum《Where Art Meets Reality: The Intersection of Artistic Expression and Social Documentation 》.

This forum will explore the dynamic intersection of creative photography and cultural documentation. Carol Chow will share her scholarly insights on gender dynamics and societal narratives, while Wong Wo Bik will present her evocative architectural imagery, examining the tension between construction and authenticity. Shen Chao-Liang will offer remarks about his poignant visual chronicles. In this dialogue, they will aim to unravel how the photographic medium functions simultaneously as an artistic vehicle and critical witness to our times. Drawing on her extensive background in visual storytelling, Hinterseer will guide this exploration of photography’s dual capacity to reflect and interpret our complex world.

The forum will take place at Art Central on March 26 at 3:00 PM—we welcome everyone to join us for this engaging discussion.

▮Art Central 將重點呈現台灣傑出藝術家 #羅晟文的攝影與錄像作品（English Below）

旅居荷蘭並長期投入當代藝術創作的羅晟文，憑藉其深具洞察力的視覺語彙，屢獲國際肯定，曾榮獲世界新聞攝影獎（World Press Photo）、FOAM Talent 等多項重要獎項，並曾於荷蘭皇家視覺藝術學院駐村創作。其作品亦受邀參與亞爾國際攝影節（Rencontres d＇Arles）、《歐洲宣言展》（Manifesta 15）等國際重要展會，是目前少數以攝影為核心實踐並成功躍上國際舞台的台灣藝術家之一。

羅晟文的創作關注動物與環境議題，結合獨特媒材與敘事手法，兼具藝術美感與社會批判性，使觀者能在審美經驗中深入思考作品背後的議題。此次於 Art Central，Avocado 將展出其代表性系列《白熊計劃》與《落塵》。

《白熊計劃》以拍攝全球圈養北極熊為主軸，透過紀實影像探討明星物種在動物園中的存在狀態，進一步反思動物於當代文明中的角色定位。

《落塵》系列則以Google Earth圖資為基礎，結合當代攝影常見的挪用手法，重構全球曾進行核試驗的地景圖像。此作品引導觀眾以接近真實的視角觀看這些遺落卻真實存在的空間，從而反思核試驗對人類生活與環境造成的深遠影響。

此外，羅晟文的錄像作品《大白熊進行曲》更脫穎而出，獲邀參與 Art Central 錄像藝術特展，與15位國際藝術家共同展出，彰顯台灣當代藝術於國際藝壇的高度能見度與創作實力。

▮Art Central to Spotlight the Works of Renowned Taiwanese Artist Lo Sheng-Wen

Currently based in the Netherlands, Lo has cultivated a robust practice in contemporary art, earning international acclaim with prestigious accolades such as the World Press Photo Award and FOAM Talent. He has also completed an artist residency at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in The Hague and has been featured in major international exhibitions including Rencontres d＇Arles and Manifesta 15. Lo stands among a select group of Taiwanese artists who have successfully leveraged photography as a primary medium to establish a strong presence on the global art stage.

Lo’s work often explores themes of animal life and environmental consciousness, engaging audiences through unconventional forms and evocative visual narratives. His practice is characterized by a harmonious balance between conceptual clarity and aesthetic depth, making his work both intellectually resonant and visually compelling.

At this year’s Art Central, Avocado will present two of Lo’s most acclaimed series: "White Bear" and "Fallout".

"White Bear" documents captive polar bears in zoos around the world, offering a poignant reflection on the symbolic role of charismatic species within the framework of modern civilization.

"Fallout", on the other hand, appropriates satellite imagery from Google Earth to trace the global geography of nuclear test sites. Utilizing a contemporary photographic strategy of image appropriation, the work recontextualizes these often-overlooked terrains, inviting viewers to confront the haunting imprint of nuclear experiments on our landscapes and collective memory.

In addition, Lo's video piece "The March of the Great White Bear" has been selected for Art Central’s Video Sector, where it will be presented alongside works by 15 internationally renowned artists—further underscoring the global recognition of Taiwan’s contemporary art discourse.

▮ 金馬獎最佳導演鍾孟宏香港Art Central 首次展出攝影作品 (English Below)

知名導演 #鍾孟宏，曾憑《第四張畫》和《陽光普照》兩次獲得金馬獎最佳導演，也是一名出色的編劇，更以「中島長雄」之名化身電影攝影師，拍攝《同學麥娜絲》、《大佛普拉斯》等電影，憑藉後者獲得金馬獎最佳攝影獎。

遠在「中島長雄」誕生之前，鍾孟宏讀大學時已對攝影感興趣，喜歡台灣新電影的他，1991年遠赴芝加哥藝術學院研究所念電影製作，回台灣後有感電影市場低谷，於是先進入廣告圈，從製片助理、副導演慢慢成為廣告導演，拍攝許多電視廣告，也曾為陳綺貞拍攝《躺在你的衣櫃》MV。

與此同時，他從未停止電影創作，先以劇本《三重奏》獲得新聞局優良劇本獎，之後憑紀錄短片《慶典》獲得金穗獎，2006年紀錄片《醫生》更拿下台北電影獎紀錄片首獎。

2008年執導首部劇情長片《停車》時，他開始以「中島長雄」之名擔任電影攝影師，及後掌鏡《一路順風》、《陽光普照》等電影，之後的《瀑布》(電影中還出現其攝影作品) 和《餘燼》，則開始以本名擔任電影攝影師。2021年，他首次挑戰以文字說故事，出版文字攝影書《我不在這裡，就在往那裡的路上》，以影像結合文章回首多年的電影往事，也讓更多人知道他的攝影師身分。

鍾導的電影擅於以深刻的敘事技巧描述親情與挫折，以細膩的鏡頭語言捕捉生活景象。他的攝影作品同樣細膩，拍攝日常生活中那些不起眼的事物與瞬間，透著光的窗簾、光影下的玫瑰花，影像平靜而有詩意。這些作品或來自他的家鄉，或是他在電影勘景路上所遇見的風景，當中那幅在土耳其拍攝的黑白照片更是焦點，一米多大的照片充滿細節，畫面中的人物零散而有節奏地分佈，猶如上演一場人間劇場。

對鍾孟宏而言，攝影與電影同樣是用影像建構世界的方式，雖然他的攝影作品看似毫無關聯的生活碎片，當中流露的情緒與氛圍，卻同樣能觸動人心。

Chung Mong-Hong, who won the Golden Horse Award for Best Director and Best Feature for his 2019 film ”A Sun,“ has never confined himself to a single role. He is not only a director, screenwriter, and producer but also an outstanding cinematographer, having won the Golden Horse Best Cinematography Award for ”The Great Buddha+.“ As a photographer, he captures fragments of daily life, focusing on seemingly insignificant moments. His works are calm, poetic, and subtly impactful.

▮ Avocado 加入 Supper Club ，進駐香港藝術地標 H Queen's 展出！(English Below)

《Supper Club》是香港創新的藝術展會，於香港藝術週期間舉辦。藉由打破傳統藝術博覽會的框架，以聯合策展的形式，營造自由流動、充滿對話與探索精神的藝術空間，於展場中呈現具實驗性的各項當代創作，並提供一個融合社交與探索的平台，讓觀眾發掘區域內的新興藝術力量。去年於『藝穗會』甫推出即獲得廣大的回響及好評，今年更將移師香港當代藝術的指標大樓『H Queen's』展出。

Avocado很榮幸的受邀參與今年的Supper Club！通過嚴格的塞選與策劃，我們將攜手 #羅晟文、 #何兆南及 #陳向一，三位優秀的當代藝術家與來自世界各地22家畫廊協同展出。

最重要的是，Supper Club於展出期間每天都開放到晚間11點，歡迎大家在藝術大爆炸的一週，白天逛累了，晚上就來Supper Club和我們一起放鬆，談論藝術的各種可能，也一起見證藝術的未來正在發生！

▮ Avocado Joins Supper Club — Showcasing at Hong Kong’s Iconic Art Landmark, H Queen’s!

Supper Club is one of Hong Kong’s most innovative art events, held during Hong Kong Art Week. Breaking away from the traditional structure of art fairs, Supper Club embraces a collaborative curatorial format to create a dynamic, free-flowing space for dialogue, experimentation, and discovery. It presents cutting-edge, forward-thinking contemporary works and offers a social platform where visitors can engage with emerging artistic voices across the region. Following its widely acclaimed debut at the Fringe Club last year, this year’s edition will take place at H Queen’s, a landmark of contemporary art in Hong Kong.

Avocado is honored to be invited to participate in this year’s Supper Club! Through a rigorous selection and curatorial process, we will be showcasing works by three outstanding contemporary artists — Lo Sheng-Wen, South Ho Siu-Nam, and Mark Chen, alongside 22 distinguished galleries from around the world.

This milestone not only marks Avocado and renowned Taiwanese gallery TKG+ as the first Taiwanese galleries ever selected to participate in Supper Club, but also makes Avocado the only Taiwanese gallery featured in both Art Central and Supper Club this year — a dual presence on two of the most important international art stages.

We are truly excited to present visionary and thought-provoking works with our artists to a global audience through this exceptional platform.

And most importantly — Supper Club will be open daily until 11PM throughout the exhibition, making it the perfect evening destination during the art week. After a full day of art event hopping, come unwind with us at Supper Club — to engage, connect, and witness the future of art unfold before your eyes.

▋ Avocado 亮相 Art Central，呈現台灣當代影像藝術巔峰之作

我們很高興的宣布，Avocado 獲選參展第十屆 Art Central 香港藝術博覽會，並將於 3 月 25 日至 30 日於香港中環海濱盛大展出！

作為我們首次參與的海外大型藝博會，Avocado 將攜手四位來自台灣、蜚聲國際的藝術家 —— #沈昭良、 #周慶輝、 #鍾孟宏及 #羅晟文，精心策劃一場精彩絕倫的展覽，呈現台灣當代攝影與錄像藝術的非凡魅力。

本次展覽Avocado不僅深獲策展團隊青睞，獲選為博覽會「攝影」專區的代表畫廊，進一步彰顯我們對影像藝術的獨特詮釋。藝術家羅晟文的錄像作品《大白熊進行曲》更脫穎而出，入選 Art Central 「錄像」特展，與 15 位國際知名藝術家並列展出，展現台灣藝術的國際高度。

能夠站上這場香港年度藝術盛會的國際舞台，我們深感榮幸，並期待透過這次展出，讓全球藝術愛好者見證台灣藝術創作的深厚底蘊，同時促進與國際策展人、藝術機構及藏家的深度交流。

Avocado Debuts at Art Central, Showcasing the Pinnacle of Taiwanese Contemporary Art

We are thrilled to announce that Avocado has been selected to participate in the 10th edition of Art Central, one of Hong Kong's premier art fairs. From March 25 to 30, we will proudly present our exhibition at the vibrant Central Harbourfront in Hong Kong.

As our debut at an international art fair, Avocado has curated a remarkable exhibition featuring four internationally acclaimed Taiwanese artists—Shen Chao-Liang, Chou Ching-Hui, Chung Mong-Hong, and Lo Sheng-Wen. Together, we will unveil an extraordinary collection that highlights the profound artistry of Taiwanese contemporary photography and video art.

Our exhibition has not only garnered the recognition of Art Central's curatorial team but has also earned Avocado the honor of being selected as a featured gallery in the “Photography” Program, underscoring our distinctive approach to visual storytelling. Additionally, Artist Lo Sheng-Wen's video work, The March of the Great White Bear, has been chosen for Art Central's prestigious “Video” program, where it will be showcased alongside works by 15 internationally renowned artists, further solidifying the global presence of Taiwanese art.

We are truly honored to be part of this prestigious annual art event in Hong Kong. Through this exhibition, we hope to share Taiwan's rich artistic landscape with a global audience while fostering meaningful connections with international curators, art institutions, and collectors.
