『看到水谷的空間圖後,我把每一個空間從紙張上剪下,重新拼湊成一個長條型的空間圖。它既像是一座太空站,也像是一枚垂直向上的火箭。有些空間潮濕,有些空間明亮……在移動的過程中,不同的感受迎面而來,而樓梯正是樓層與樓層之間的交界。各樓層的光線會越過樓梯,在樓梯間彼此交融。這些細微且容易被忽略的感受,其實在不知不覺之中,已被觀眾帶入展覽當中。
這次很幸運邀請到大尾哥,在展覽製作前期與他分享整個過程時,他突然說了一句:「如果把垂直的空間倒下來,變成橫著思考,應該會很有意思。」於是我開始用空間圖反覆模擬、黏貼與組裝,也在這個空間裡度過了很長的時間。過年時傳來的麻將聲、對面阿姨的曬衣日常,慢慢地,我也與這裡形成了一種微妙的平衡。』
After seeing the spatial diagram of Waley, I cut each space out from the paper and reassembled them into a long, horizontal spatial map. It resembles both a space station and a rocket pointing vertically upward. Some spaces are damp, while others are bright. As one moves through it, different sensations emerge and meet the viewer, and the staircases become the boundaries between floors. The light from each level crosses the stairwell, blending with the others. These subtle and easily overlooked sensations have, without our noticing, already guided the audience into the exhibition.
I was fortunate to invite Artist Lai earlier in the production process, and while sharing the whole process with him, he suddenly said, “If the vertical space were laid down and thought of horizontally, it might become very interesting.” From that moment on, I began repeatedly simulating, pasting, and assembling the spatial diagram. I also spent a long time within this space. The sound of mahjong drifting in during the Lunar New Year, and the everyday scene of the aunt across the street hanging laundry—gradually, I found myself forming a subtle balance with this place.

Born in 2002 in Taipei, Taiwan, the artist primarily focuses on contemporary art practice. He is adept at turning small problems into multiple, more complicated ones—a condition that is also reflected in his work. His works often evoke a strong sense of bodily awareness in viewers. He enjoys using simple mechanical principles to produce moving images and continually seeks possibilities for creation through close observation of everyday life.

賴志盛
賴志盛1971年生於臺北,「國家氧」成員。自1990年代以來,賴志盛持續在不同的空間或風景中進行干預性的藝術實踐一ー突兀褶皺的地毯、縱穿數個樓層的孔洞、被蚊子打亂的整潔空間秩序,或是用以連結學校和美術館空間的乒乓球遊戲等——以裝置、雕塑、影像等多種媒介探索了動態張力、生命經驗和藝術自由的界限等主題。他關注細節,常在特定空間的不同元素之間創造新關係,其作品直接與觀眾的身體及存在感知相溝通,帶有一種富含詩意的後觀念藝術傾向。
Lai Chih-Sheng
Lai Chih-Sheng was born in Taipei in 1971 and is a member of “National Oxygen.” Since the 1990s, Lai has continuously carried out intervention-based artistic practices within different spaces and landscapes—such as abruptly folded carpets, holes penetrating several floors of a building, the disruption of a neatly ordered space by mosquitoes, or a ping-pong game used to connect the spaces of a school and an art museum. Working across multiple media including installation, sculpture, and video, he explores themes such as dynamic tension, lived experience, and the boundaries of artistic freedom. Attentive to details, Lai often creates new relationships among different elements within specific spaces. His works communicate directly with the viewer’s body and sense of presence, carrying a poetic tendency toward post-conceptual art.
