▋Current Exhibition|Su Meng-Hung : The Flowers of Coromandel
Su Meng-Hung’s The Flowers of Coromandel unfolds from the history of Coromandel screens, objects once made in Asia, circulated through trade, and reimagined in Europe through the lens of Chinoiserie.
Curated by Barbara Pollack, the exhibition reflects on how images travel across cultures, carrying with them desire, fantasy, misunderstanding, and transformation. Through paintings and folding screens, Su layers Eastern and Western motifs, floral imagery, lacquer-like surfaces, and traces of ornament to question where authenticity ends and imagination begins.
Beautiful at first glance, the works slowly reveal themselves as gardens of cultural exchange, where decoration becomes memory, and beauty becomes an entry point for rethinking history and cultural relationships.
The exhibition is on view through July 11, 2026.
