Founded in 1967 in Ginza, the heart of Tokyo, Whitestone Gallery is one of the pioneering galleries in Japan. During early years, the gallery’s main focus is more on promoting Nihonga and L’Ecole de Paris art works, and then it gradually shifted to the significant modern and contemporary Japanese artists, e.g. Recently, along with these postwar Japanese artists and rising talents from contemporary

art scene, Whitestone gallery has especially concentrated on introducing the avant-garde artist group “GUTAI Art Association” to the collectors, e.g. Jiro Yoshihara, Kazuo Shiraga, Atsuko Tanaka, Shozo Shimamoto and Chiyu Uemae. In 2012, the gallery opened the Karuizawa New Art Museum in Karuizawa city, the most renowned resort area in Japan. The mission of the museum is to reframe Japanese art into a global conversation on artistic innovation, at the same time, to encourage community based enlightenment of art through various public programs. Karuizawa New Art Museum held an exhibition “Gutai-jin” in 2015, gathered over than 120 works from the Gutai maestros. This exhibition not only displayed the museum’s academic success in depth, but also established the gallery’s leading position in Gutai art. Based on the belief in “Art has no boundaries”, Whitestone Gallery is very active in participating art fairs for years in order to broaden the global market. The footprints have reached out worldwide, including New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, London, Cologne, Moscow, Sydney, Rio, Dubai, Singapore, Jakarta, Seoul, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taipei, Kaohsiung, and etc. Regarding overseas art spaces, Whitestone Gallery opened its first overseas gallery in 2015 in Wong Chuk Hang, an emerging art district in the south of HK Island. By establishing itself in the local community, Whitestone Gallery is rapidly expanding its core areas of Asian art. The gallery also commissioned Kengo Kuma, the famous architect in charge of the 2020 Olympic venues in Tokyo, to design the third international base in Taipei, Taiwan, which opened in the spring of 2017. The Singapore art space is about to open in January 2023, and preparations are ongoing for several international locations. Continue to advance the global operations of Whitestone Gallery. Cultivating cooperation and collaborating with international art talents to create the dialogue between West and East.

白石畫廊於1967年在東京的最核心地帶銀座成立,是日本具有前瞻性的畫廊之一。畫廊早年推廣傳統日本畫及巴黎畫派作品,隨即將重心轉移至現代及當代出色的日本藝術家,如﹕草間彌生。近來,除了這些戰後的前輩藝術家及正嶄露頭角的當代藝術新星,白石畫廊更專精於推介日本重要前衛藝術團體「具體美術家協會」的藝術巨作,如﹕吉原治良﹑白髮一雄﹑田中敦子﹑嶋本昭三﹑上前智祐…等。

2012年白石畫廊在日本著名的度假勝地輕井澤創建了新藝術美術館。美術館的使命在於,以革新的方式重塑日本藝術且進行國際對話,同時藉由公眾活動促進在地的美術啟蒙。2015年,新藝術美術館舉辦「具体人」大展,全面展出了具體派藝術大師逾120件的作品。此一富里程碑意義的展覽,不但表現了美術館於學術研究上的精深,更奠定了白石畫廊在具體派藝術的領導地位。

秉持著「藝術無國界」的信念,白石畫廊多年來積極參與海外的藝術博覽會,拓展國際市場,足跡遍布紐約﹑芝加哥﹑洛杉磯﹑邁阿密﹑倫敦﹑科隆﹑莫斯科﹑雪梨﹑巴西﹑杜拜﹑新加坡﹑雅加達﹑首爾﹑北京﹑上海﹑香港﹑台北及高雄等地。

海外藝術空間部分,2015年,白石畫廊第一家海外經營的畫廊在香港島南部的藝術新興區黃竹坑開幕,2018年更在香港藝術及品質生活的黃金核心地段H Queen 設立空間。藉由在地紮根,白石畫廊正與各個亞洲的藝術核心區域,快速同步成長。畫廊更力邀負責2020年東京奧運會場館的建築大師隈研吾,設計於2017年春開幕的台灣台北第三個國際據點。2023年一月,新加坡的藝術空間也即將開幕,多個海外據點持續籌備之中。繼續邁進白石畫廊全球化經營的腳步,展開與國際優秀藝術家的合作與東西對話。

「我更看重的不是作品看起來有多完整,而是創作過程中於畫面對話的真實感有沒有出現。」—— 米莎

米莎表示,她的靈感來源並非單純來自「外在世界」或「內在思考」的某一端,而更像是兩者在邊界處的持續摩擦與滲透——就像我畫面中那種「介於之間」的模糊性一樣,靈感也誕生於內外交界的灰色地帶。外界所提供的是感受的誘因,從小生活的文化環境與家庭環境所形成的生命經驗都是外在世界留給她的具體痕跡。它們不是靈感本身,當她帶著這些生命經驗所形成的身體記憶去看世界,那些沈積感受就會被瞬間激活。會讓她對內在不斷的建立新的思考和感受。因此真正讓靈感發生的,是兩者相遇時產生的「化學反應」——那一刻,內外之間的縫隙,那個既不完全屬於世界、也不完全屬於自己的地帶, 在不刻意區分內外時,會自然湧現。🌊🌊

“I’m simply drawn to this kind of ‘clustered structure.’ Fruits, leaves, even pigeons and the stones. I painted before all share this common quality... There’s something especially solid about this kind of structure, a certain thickness to it. By rendering it again and again, I hope to project a kind of spiritual weight into the image.” - LI Manjin

For her, what matters most is the repeated shaping and adjustment throughout the process. How can one accurately reflect the experience of visual perception? It is about translating the immediate, lived experience of the subjective self into an objective image. She tries to continuously subtract, to uncover something enduring, to distill a more solid internal structure, and to reconstruct a certain kind of order. It is precisely this process of constant refinement—the struggle, the trial and error, and the occasional moments of ease—that forms the powerful core of the work. The processual nature of the image naturally emerges, allowing the depicted “object” to become more like a symbol that carries a certain spiritual weight.

The sensation that took Japan by storm, the Hatsune Miku contemporary art exhibition "ART OF MIKU," is making its overseas debut! Partnering with Whitestone Gallery for its very first stop, the exhibition will kick off this summer.

The exhibition will be rolled out in two phases—"First Stage" and "Second Stage." Collaborating with over 40 artists from around the globe to showcase approximately 80+ artworks, this iteration marks the largest scale in the exhibition’s history!

"ART OF MIKU" is an innovative initiative that creates and presents contemporary art through cutting-edge expressions. It invites leading modern artists active on the global stage to create original works inspired by Hatsune Miku and Piapro Characters (Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin, Kagamine Len, Megurine Luka, MEIKO, and KAITO).

When the wind brushes through trees and blossoms, the two meet, blend, and permeate. What kind of traces and lingering resonance do they leave behind—within the flora, and within our own inner worlds? We warmly invite you to come and admire the graceful gestures of flowers brimming with this poetic resonance, and to feel the healing and tranquility brought by the permeation of the wind.

In a special collaboration with The VG House, this exhibition pairs LEE Chae's artworks with curated vintage Nordic furniture. 孟陽陽非常在意創作時材料的巧妙運用造成的微妙效果。在此次展出的綜合材料繪畫系列中,基底的製作是藝術家創造出的獨特製作配方和方法,這種特殊肌理和質感會跟顏料產生奇特的效果和氛圍。肌理的厚重感強調了繪畫的物質屬性,打破常規畫框的束縛,讓繪畫脫離畫框邊界,繪畫這時不僅僅是圖像本身還是整個包括畫框在內的所有內容。繪畫走向雕塑?或許是繪畫與雕塑的曖昧關係。🗿🖌️

“The core driving force of my work comes from the outside world and carries a concern for social and human conditions, reflecting both the realities of individual existence and the issues embedded in collective consciousness today..” - MENG Yangyang

In MENG Yangyang's practice, she pays close attention to the subtle effects produced by the inventive use of materials. In this series of mixed media paintings, the preparation of the surface is based on a unique formula and method she has developed. This distinctive texture and material quality interact with the paint to create unusual effects and atmospheres.

The density of the surface emphasizes the materiality of painting, breaking away from the conventional constraints of the frame and allowing the work to extend beyond its edges. At this point, her painting is not only the image itself, but the entirety of its presence, including the frame. Is painting moving toward sculpture? Perhaps it is an ambiguous relationship between the two.

自然是藝術家李采作品中重要的主題,他所描繪的自然並非現實風景的再現,而是以象徵性、抽象性的方式詮釋對內在心靈與自我成長的認識。如其經典的「藍色花朵」(The Blue Flower),藉花朵的盛開與凋謝,傳遞生命力之流動成長與無限的特性,並對應心靈中情緒景觀的成長;「殘像」(Afterimage)系列是「藍色花朵」所構築的形象於內心消散分解後留下的殘影,此系列中,花朵也發展為樹木與森林構成。

近期,李采更進一步聚焦「風」與「花」之間的動態關係,如「風之花」系列取自韓語中的「바람꽃」(Baramkkot)一詞。在韓語中,「風之花」指涉風起前瞬間的能量,李采藉此展現生命間的連結。而在這次展覽《沁風・花間》中,藝術家將關注延伸至風吹拂過後與事物的互滲、餘韻與變化。他視「花的盛開與樹的生長」同靈魂深處的情緒波動,當微風拂過,風的存在便沁入了植物的生命,即便在風經過之後,風留下的痕跡與變化仍持續留存於草葉之間,正如人的心靈受外在刺激而晃動,蕩漾的餘韻與過往、未來的經驗次次層疊,滲入生命、進而改變了生命的本質。

Nature is a central motif in Lee Chae’s work. However, his intention is not to portray natural landscapes, but to interpret the growing landscape of the inner soul in a metaphorical and abstract way. His iconic series “The Blue Flower”, utilizes the blooming and withering of flora to express the fluid vitality and infinity of life, mirroring how emotions are nurtured and transformed in one’s heart. The “Afterimage” series then captures the memories left behind as the imagery of the "The Blue Flower" dissolves within the mind. In this series, the flower grows into trees and forests. Lee Chae’s recent works have focused on the relationship between “wind” and “flower”, such as the “Baramkkot” series, naming after the Korean vocabulary “바람꽃”,which literally means “wind flower”, symbolizes the fleeting energy that lingers in the moment just before the wind begins to rise.

In these works, Baramkkot is seen as a flower of connection, born from the energy of the wind. In this current exhibition Imbued, Between Flower and Wind, however, Lee Chae delves deeper into the changes that unfold after the wind passes by. He focuses on the infusion, resonance and imbuement that lead to a profound transformation. For Lee Chae, "flowers bloom and trees grow" is equivalent to the stirring of emotion from within the depths of the soul. The wind blowing over these flowers and trees signifies the moment when an external stimulus permeates the quiet surface of one’s inner self. Even after the wind has passed, its presence does not easily fade. It lingers between leaves and stems, slowly seeping in and transforming life from its very essence.

「我只是喜歡這種『團狀的結構』,果實、葉子、包括鴿子和我之前畫過的石頭,其實都有這種共性⋯⋯那種結構特別堅實,有某種厚度,我反復刻畫,是希望把某種精神的重量投射到這個畫面中去。」—— 李滿金

對李滿金來說,創作中最重要的還是過程中的反復塑造調整,如何準確的反映視知覺感受?把主觀個體生命的切身體驗轉換為客觀物象。
透過試著不斷做減法,發現永恆,提煉更堅實的內在結構,試著重塑某種秩序。正是反復推敲的過程,那種掙扎、試錯、偶爾的順利等這些過程形成了畫面強大的內核,畫面主體的過程性自然顯現,使被描繪的「對象」更像是承載某種精神重量的符號。👁️💫

“I’m simply drawn to this kind of ‘clustered structure.’ Fruits, leaves, even pigeons and the stones. I painted before all share this common quality... There’s something especially solid about this kind of structure, a certain thickness to it. By rendering it again and again, I hope to project a kind of spiritual weight into the image.” - LI Manjin

For her, what matters most is the repeated shaping and adjustment throughout the process. How can one accurately reflect the experience of visual perception? It is about translating the immediate, lived experience of the subjective self into an objective image. She tries to continuously subtract, to uncover something enduring, to distill a more solid internal structure, and to reconstruct a certain kind of order. It is precisely this process of constant refinement—the struggle, the trial and error, and the occasional moments of ease—that forms the powerful core of the work. The processual nature of the image naturally emerges, allowing the depicted “object” to become more like a symbol that carries a certain spiritual weight.

▎當期展覽 Current Exhibition #感知的裂隙 #米莎

「我希望自己的顏色能夠保持在一個系統裡,再從中找微弱的變化,它在情緒上會更飽滿、更豐富,微弱的色彩變化也會給我更多驚喜。」—米莎

米莎曾描繪過大量水果,包括酪梨、梨子等,為此次展覽以蘋果為對象進行色彩訓練。在長達一個半月裡,她只切了一個蘋果,每天投入十餘小時描繪,直至果肉完全氧化。專注於同一個對象,長時間觀看及持續的塑造,每次凝視仍能發現新的變化。作品中的蘋果核,都彷彿匯聚於一點,像中心在發光,而邊緣則逐漸暈開、消散。

“I hope to keep my colors within a unified system, and then seek out subtle variations within it. This allows the emotional tone to become fuller and more nuanced, while these slight shifts in color also bring me unexpected moments of surprise.” - Misha

Misha has depicted a wide range of fruits, including avocados and pears; for this exhibition, she focuses on the apple as a means of color training. Over the course of a month and a half, she worked with a single apple, painting for more than ten hours a day until its flesh had fully oxidized. Through sustained attention to the same subject—prolonged observation and continuous rendering—each gaze continued to reveal new variations. In her paintings, the apple core seems to converge toward a single point, as if the center were glowing, while the edges gradually diffuse and dissolve.

▎當期展覽 Current Exhibition #李采 #沁風花間

「在我看來,『花的盛開和樹的生長』就如同靈魂深處情緒的湧動。我以風吹經花木的時刻,來體現外在刺激如何滲進內心平靜的表面。」—— 李采

此次《沁風・花間:李采個展》呈獻多件新作,包含「藍色花朵/風」(The Blue Flower/ Wind)系列、2026年「風之殘像」(Afterimage of Wind)與「風之沁盈」(Wind-Infused)系列,亦有2024年「殘像」系列。

李采將「風」視為外在的偶然與刺激,而「花木」則為內在的情緒本體,兩者交會產生的沁染(infused)、留存(lingering)與滲透(imbued)是本次展覽的核心概念。他以畫筆勾勒形狀與線條,或以半透明色彩多次地重複堆疊,或仔細地以畫筆帶走部分顏料,將風的軌跡與餘韻,詩意地轉化為可被感知、帶有時間重影的殘像。

對藝術家而言,作品所呈現的畫面與其說是捕捉一特定狀態,不如說是以這個過程象徵相互交疊、不斷轉變的情感,形象地展現了隨著時間推移,情感積累所產生的層層影響和揮之不去的餘韻——即便風已消逝,留在花葉與情緒間的共鳴,仍以一種花風相滲、餘韻滿盈的姿態,持續勾勒平靜療癒的內在風景。

除了李采標誌性的藍,本次展出的部分作品也透露半透明的綠意,創造出靜謐的和諧。人在觀看作品時,彷彿也沉浸於微風之中。

為了將這些抽象概念融入現實生活,畫廊特別與 The VG House 臣爵家具 合作。透過將李采的作品與精選的北歐老件家具搭配,我們邀請您一同探索藝術與居家結合的現代生活美學。

“To me, ‘flowers bloom and trees grow’ is equivalent to the stirring of an emotion from within the soul’s depths. The wind blowing over these flowers and trees signifies the moment when an external stimulus permeates the quiet surface of my inner self.” -- LEE Chae

This exhibition presents several new series, including “The Blue Flower/ Wind,” the 2026 latest series “Afterimage of Wind” and “Wind-Infused,” as well as the 2024 “Afterimage” series. Lee Chae regards “wind” as the external stimulus and “flower” as the inner mind; the core of this exhibition lies in the states produced through their encounter: infusion, lingering aftereffects, and imbuement.

The artist paints shapes and lines, then with his brush, he carefully lifts away portions of the pigment. During the process of layering translucent colors to the canvas then wiping away, he poetically transforms the wind’s trajectory and resonance into perceptible afterimages. Rather than being fixed in a single state, this process serves as a metaphor for emotions that overlap and transform, visualizing the layers and lingering aftereffects left as feelings build up over time.

Alongside Lee Chae’s signature blue, translucent shades of green emerge within several of the new works. Standing before the canvases, viewers may find themselves becoming imbued, between the flower and the wind."

To bridge these abstract reflections with your own space, we’ve collaborated with The VG House. By pairing Lee’s canvases with curated Nordic vintage furniture, we invite you to explore a new aesthetic for modern living where art and home converge.

2026 威尼斯雙年展 (La Biennale di Venezia 2026)於 5 月 9 日正式開跑,白石畫廊合作藝術家羅納德・溫度拿(Ronald Ventura)榮幸以個展《LUNA》參與官方平行展,並由知名策展人 Ruel Cassi 策劃展覽。✨🎉

羅納德・溫度拿為國際知名當代菲律賓藝術家,以其充滿幻覺與強烈感官誘發力的風格聞名於世。此次《LUNA》展覽地點位於卡斯特羅區(Castello)的庫奇尼造船廠(Docks Cantieri Cucchini),溫度拿運用其揉合符碼的經典手法,將古典藝術、流行文化、動漫、奇幻元素以及當代符號相互交融,創造出巨大的雕塑、混合型態的人物以及沉浸式裝置,帶領觀者踏上一段華麗又跳脫框架的非凡藝術旅程,賦予展覽強大的視覺震撼力與情感張力。🗿⚡️

羅納德・溫杜拿 1973 年出生於菲律賓馬尼拉,現今仍居住於當地並持續進行創作,是在東南亞區域的同世代藝術家當中受到高度評價的其中一人。溫杜拿的繪畫與雕塑作品,題材富含層層意喻,在東南亞當代藝術當中展現出獨特風格。他的作品特征是圖像與手法交叠出繁覆層次,橫跨超現實主義、漫畫、塗鴉等多樣題材。而將作品層次化的創作過程,也隱喻著菲律賓這個國家多元化的身份認同,除了土著文化,加上數世紀以來,受到西班牙、日本、美國各方勢力所占領後的深厚影響,衍生出覆雜、時而不安定的身份認同。

The 61st Venice Biennale (La Biennale di Venezia 2026) officially commenced on May 9th. Whitestone Gallery is honored to announce that our collaborating artist, Ronald Ventura, is participating as an official Collateral Event with his solo exhibition, "LUNA," curated by the renowned Ruel Caasi. ✨🎉

Ronald Ventura is a world-renowned contemporary Filipino artist, celebrated for his hyper-visual and sensory-evoking style. Hosted at the Docks Cantieri Cucchini in the Castello district, "LUNA" showcases Ventura’s signature mastery of multilayered symbolism. By intertwining classical art, pop culture, anime, fantasy, and contemporary icons, he creates monumental sculptures, hybrid figures, and immersive installations.

This extraordinary artistic journey transcends boundaries, inviting viewers into a world of profound visual impact and emotional tension. 🗿⚡️

This event is organized by MUSE (Science Museum of Trento), Castel Belasi, and the "We Are the Flood" platform for contemporary eco-thinking of the MUSE Science Museum.

Ronald Ventura (b. 1973, Manila, Philippines) continues to live and work in his home city and is widely regarded as one of the most highly acclaimed contemporary artists of his generation in Southeast Asia. Ventura’s paintings and sculptures are characterized by a unique aesthetic within the region’s contemporary art scene, featuring intricate layers of imagery and techniques that span surrealism, cartoons, and graffiti.

The multifaceted process of layering in his work serves as a powerful metaphor for the complex identity of the Philippines—a nation shaped by indigenous traditions and centuries of diverse colonial influences from Spain, Japan, and the United States. Through his art, Ventura explores the multifaceted and sometimes unsettled sense of identity that arises from this rich yet turbulent history.
