自述 Self Description

在台北創意產業經過近十年的工作之後，吳國強，於2008年至荷蘭進修，進而畢業於烏特烈支藝術大學的編輯碩士學位。在他旅居西歐期間，曾在阿姆斯特丹實習工作於不同的專案，並於瑞士洛桑參與過印刷實務的經驗。目前他是根基於台北的自由工作者與美術統籌；同時在大學擔任設計講師與設計社團「田田圈文創工作群」的一員，以及「洞」——一個「安吶其」線上游牧項目的策劃統籌。身為藝術與設計相關從業人士，他持續致力於社會體制內外的設計方法鍛鍊與藝術事件實踐。國強的創作導向於以文字編輯作基礎的具象詩般的表現模式，有時會滲入圖像作為手段，以企圖文結合的傳播途徑。其專研於字學的結構與解構，在編組圖像與詮釋文本時具敏銳直指人心的感知性。他在應用不同多樣的印製材質上特別關注細節，希冀給觀者視覺加乘觸覺的雙重感受。他試圖利用這種種溝通方法去喚起觀者反觀、內省以及冷諷的思考，而這種昭示通常能夠揭露現代社會中人性不同面向的荒謬本質。其專精於：書題、插畫、品牌設定與咨詢、編輯、資訊圖學、平面影像以及裝置與展場視覺。 客戶與合作夥伴：岸汐職人聚落、牽猴子整合行銷、國賓飯店、亞太製片網絡、北京箭廠空間、台北貝斯廚房派對、財團法人國家電影中心、中興大學人文與社會科學研究中心、快速羽球、台北市文化局、黯黑入口唱片廠牌、Ella Raidel、偉大娛樂有限公司、北京綠光行出版、輔仁大學博物館學研究所、台灣歷史資源經理學會、IDEO上海、澤東電影、花蓮乙皮畫廊、九邑天闊廣告、佳映電影、一條龍虎豹電影、黃楷馨、紀州庵、蘭陽博物館、羅東文化工場、文化部、香港華人民主書院，人籟雜誌既利氏學社、花米電影、楊雨樵、臺虎精釀、台聯電訊、台北當代藝術中心、台北市立美術館、國立台北藝術大學、台北偶戲館、台灣建築雜誌、田田圈文創、寶藏巖藝術村、城市遊牧影展、聯廣廣告與台北村落之聲。

Ralph Kuo Chiang Wu graduated with a MA degree in Editorial Design from Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht the Netherlands in 2009, after 10 years working experience in the creative industries in Taiwan. He's worked in Amsterdam and Lausanne in 2010 respectively, while he stayed in Western Europe. Currently he is a design lecturer, and working as a freelance designer and art director based in Taipei, as well as a member of the Tieniencircle Creative Group and the administrator of The Hole - a nomadic space for anarchistic projects. As a design professional and an art practitioner, he's constantly dedicated himself into design methodology and art drill in and out of the system of our society. Ralph's practice is toward to editorial and text-based artistic presentations, with certain graphics as instruments, in order to tells stories by combining words and images. He's trained in de/constructive typography, with a great sensibility in composing heart-stirring illustrated images and storytelling. He pays particular attention to the details while utilizing different materials in print for viewers, which is not just for seeing but 'touching'. The communication he tries to convey to the audiences is frequently innermost, introspective and ironic, yet it somehow reveals various aspects of modern life as well as the imagery of the absurd entity known as humanity. His specialties: calligraphy, lettering, illustration, branding, editorial, infographic, photography, installation and exhibition (spatial) design.
