About Nomad Museum Project ~
21 years ago, most galleries at Taiwan preferred to deal with artworks by well-established artists. Seeing that local galleries didn’t open during summer, artist Fang Marvin-Minto went negotiate with seven galleries inside Apollo Building. Shih who just left exhibition department of Taipei Fine Art Museum (now executive director of MOCA) as curator and 8 installation artists. In July 1994, the first exhibition of “Nomad Museum” was officially on view. Next year 1995, Fang Marvin-Minto co-founded Bamboo Curtain Studio, an alternative space, with Margaret Shiu Tan and Chen Cheng-Hsun. Since then, Nomad Museum had organized 8 avant-garde artist solo exhibitions at Bamboo Curtain Studio from 1995 to 1997. After living and working at Beijing more than a decade, Fang Marvin-Minto re-activated Nomad Museum Recreation Project in 2014. In this project, curators are invited for exhibitions which are very experimental as well as market-oriented. In the name of liberation, we hope to present an alternative vision for contemporary art via a gesture of rebirth and growth. Chronicle of Events at Nomad Museum~

Minto Fang, Founder of Nomad Museum-
Minto Fang participated to Venice Biennale in 1997 and is one of the most influential figures at Taiwan contemporary art world. His overseas study experiences in early years create linkage between his creational concepts and global theories. For instance the juxtaposition of found objects and created items and put plants (wheatgrass) into installation pieces, are both first advocated by him. It further brings huge impacts and profound influences to art creational concepts at Taiwan; his artworks mostly present simple and humble quality of life with focus and caring to the Nature and humanity; living and working at Beijing in recent years, Minto Fang largely adopts wooden sculpture as the major element in his art creation. His presentation shows great extents of maturity and sophistication as well as sparkles of wisdom from his life experiences.
