These forms do not arise from fantasy, but from the artist‘s sustained and attentive observation of everyday life. Flowers, tabletop objects, flowing water, the human body, the moon, and stars are all ordinary presences. Yet once they enter the canvas, they gradually shed their outward appearances and become something beyond objects themselves. Through colour, line, and geometry, they acquire new significance. Familiar landscapes become strangely unfamiliar, only to reveal an unexpected intimacy. Rather than depicting objects, Sato seems to narrate how they carry time, memory, and perception, gradually becoming form.
Colours and lines likewise embody the texture of time. At times they resemble the lingering humidity of an overcast day; at others, the last light before dusk. They ripple like wind across water, or drift like fragments of a dream on the verge of disappearance. What viewers encounter is less a narrative than an elusive sense of time passing. These forms never remain fixed; they continue to emerge and dissolve, to appear and disappear, resisting any final or singular identity.
