Yuan Hsin-Yuan : Two Trees and a Flock of Birds

Working primarily with camphor and birch wood, Yuan Hsin-Yuan transforms fleeting observations from daily life into restrained sculptural figures. Drawn from sketches of gestures, postures, and passing encounters, her works strip away overt narrative and expression, leaving behind contemplative forms that evoke states of solitude, memory, and emotional ambiguity.

Throughout the exhibition, warm wooden textures coexist with reflective surfaces and translucent, water-like imagery, constructing a space suspended between external reality and inner perception. Rather than presenting fixed narratives, Two Trees and a Flock of Birds invites viewers into a quiet emotional landscape shaped by moments of closeness, stillness, and distant observation.

Mai Yokoyama : Solar Phantasm

Centered on the question of authenticity and perception, Yokoyama’s practice examines the shifting relationship between digital image-making, painting, and time. Through works that move between iPad drawings, watercolor studies, and oil painting, the artist constructs layered visual structures in which images continuously evolve through accumulation, transformation, and residue.

Through painting, I hope to share a moment in which the pace of everyday life slows and we return to an inner stillness. By making visible the unseen rhythms that flow between self and nature, body and consciousness, the exhibition creates a space for viewers to return to the "quiet voice" within themselves. I believe that healing is not a kindness that simply fills a sense of loss, but an act of reclaiming one's original rhythm. It is my hope that this exhibition may become a time through which we once again face the world.

When furniture is liberated from the constraints of utility, how does an object redefine its own existence?

Artist Chen Wei-Chen extends her profound inquiry into materiality, shifting her focus toward the architecture of interior furniture. Navigating the delicate tension between "form" and "function," Chen employs material subversion and formal translation to challenge entrenched perceptions of the everyday.

These works exist in a dual state—at once functional domestic items and pure sculptural entities. Through a lens of irony and self-reflection, Chen invites us to pierce through the material surface, initiating a dialogue on the essence of objects and cultural identity within the space between the utilitarian and the aesthetic.

Join us to witness the transformation of the mundane and discover the "other side" of matter within a reimagined reality.

Within a single object, how can “form” and “function” each fulfill their roles in a way that responds to the original intention of its design? Artist Chen Wei-Chen navigates the boundary between these two dimensions, questioning whether design ultimately serves the user or defines the object itself. Through the transformation and reinterpretation of furniture forms, the exhibition reconsiders how everyday objects are defined, used, and perceived, while revealing the multiple possibilities of “household items” as both functional objects and sculptural forms.

Anxiety, anger, and isolation are no longer confined to individual psychological states; they have diffused into a broader collective atmosphere, subtly shaping how we perceive ourselves and the world around us.

Born in Fukuoka, Japan in 1983, Sayuri Tsuboyama’s painting practice centers on the intrinsic relationship between humanity and nature. Distinguished by her luminous transparency and vivid chromatic sensibility, her work articulates a highly personal and recognizable visual language. Through the poetic interweaving of human and vegetal forms, Tsuboyama constructs layered metaphors that convey complex emotional and conceptual dimensions. Her works have been widely exhibited in museums and galleries both in Japan and internationally, and have received multiple nominations and awards across prominent art platforms.

Iseult Perrault : Domestic Nature

For her first solo exhibition in Taipei, Iseult Perrault presents Domestic Nature, a painted installation built on an intentional paradox: the desire to contain the landscape while acknowledging that it can never truly be contained. The title functions as an oxymoron-an encounter between the domestic and the wild, the interior and the exterior, the known and the unreachable. Painting becomes the ideal medium for this union: a space where contradictions can coexist and where imagined nature can fully materialize within a controlled frame.

Chen Jia-Bang : The Guise Of A Haven

The Guise of a Haven explores how life, within a constantly shifting world, seeks conditions in which it can pause, withdraw, and coexist. Centered on the concept of mimicry, this series of wood sculptures interweaves insects, plants, and everyday objects to form hybrid figures that exist between the natural and the man-made, reflecting processes of survival, adaptation, and self-placement.

In these works, insect bodies merge with veins and branches, while the contours of domestic objects transform into shells, nests, and protective structures. Rather than presenting distinct entities, the sculptures reveal modes of interdependence. These forms do not disappear through camouflage; instead, by becoming like something else, they locate spaces in which to remain.

Wood retains its grain and growth marks, carrying time and the memory of nature. Through carving, the material is reconfigured, echoing how life adjusts its form under environmental pressure. Here, a “haven” is not a fixed place but a condition—one in which, despite blurred boundaries and shifting identities, existence can still take shape with a sense of ease.
