Forms Through Time|Ng Ka Ho Ceramic Solo Exhibition
“Forms Through Time” is a creative journey in constant transformation.
During his time in Kyoto, Ng Ka Ho chose to work with throwning forms, drilling and piercing them within a limited span of time. Through this process, enclosed shapes were opened, allowing light and shadow to enter the works. The light that falls through these openings became a quiet expression of the artist’s dreams and hopes.
Around the time of the pandemic, as the world became unstable and fragmented, he began reconnecting broken pieces with glaze, longing for a sense of hope and comfort after reconstruction. Later, after Time Capsule, the reflective surface of glaze brought the outside world into the centre of the work.
Through clay, Ng Ka Ho gives shape to different moments in time. Between pressure, fragmentation, reconstruction and reflection, he continues to arrange his relationship with himself and the world. In the Water, Smoke, Flame: Hundred Forms series, the works gradually move toward a freer state. They are like water and fire, like rising smoke and shifting flames. Clay follows the movement of the hand and intuition, freely and naturally.
