📖 Frame by frame, animation comes to life. Page by page, a story begins.

Have you ever thought about how watching animation and reading a book might have something in common?
Animation divides time into individual frames, bringing still images to life through movement and rhythm. Reading unfolds in a similar way: page by page, through pauses, connections, and imagination.
This time, instead of beginning with the screen, we invite you to enter the world of animation through the printed page. ✨
The Art Library Center at the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts presents:
📚 Dreaming in Frames: From Page to Screen — The World of Animation in Books
Featuring 39 Chinese- and foreign-language titles, the exhibition takes you behind the moving image—from animation principles, storyboarding, and production to the history of Taiwanese animation and comics, and finally to the ways animation shapes our memories, emotions, and imagination.
🎞️ Between Frames and Movement
How does animation move? Discover how drawing, storyboarding, character design, editing, and production transform still images into moving worlds.
🇹🇼 Traces and Memory
Follow the history of Taiwanese animation and comics, and explore their connections with Japanese and global animation across different eras and cultures.
🌙 Perception and Imagination
From Grandma and Her Ghosts and On Happiness Road to Pixar and classic fairy tales, animation does more than create fantastic worlds—it carries memories of family, place, childhood, and the ways we understand ourselves.
So when you visit the Art Library Center, slow down for a moment.
Pick up a book. Take a seat. Turn one page, then another.
Because—
Pages and frames share a secret:
without someone moving through them, neither truly exists.

📅 August 11, 2026 – January 17, 2027
📍 Art Library Center, 3F, National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts
And there’s more to come! 🎬
The exhibition will also feature a special lecture on Taiwanese animation and screenings of classic animated films, taking you from the bookshelf to the screen—and from the screen back to the page.
