葉哲瑀個展《假仙・一閃神・塗層縮地》
從當代數位觀看經驗出發，聚焦於滑動、切換、疊加與跳接所形塑的視覺感知。
藝術家透過挪用、拼貼、絹印與繪畫，將古典山水、品牌紋樣及不同文化脈絡的圖像並置，使螢幕中稍縱即逝的影像轉化為具有厚度與物質性的繪畫痕跡，重新思考影像、慾望與當代理想生活之間的關係。

Yeh Che-Yu’s solo exhibition Ká-Sian · Glance-Flashed · Coating-Translocation takes contemporary modes of digital viewing as its point of departure, focusing on visual perception shaped by scrolling, switching, layering, and abrupt transitions. Through appropriation, collage, silkscreen, and painting, Yeh brings together classical landscapes, brand patterns, and images drawn from diverse cultural contexts. Fleeting images encountered on screens are transformed into painterly traces with material weight and texture, prompting a reconsideration of the relationships between images, desire, and contemporary visions of the ideal life.

當期展覽｜Art Moment

自文藝復興以來，肖像畫一直是西方藝術的重要類型。透過人物外貌呈現身份、社會地位與形象。而臉孔則是辨識人物、理解情感的重要媒介。

進入二十世紀後，隨著現代主義開始反思傳統的再現方式，以及現代社會重新思考「個體」與「主體性」的意義，肖像畫也逐漸從描繪外貌，轉向探討身份、存在，以及觀看者與被觀看者之間的關係。

在此脈絡下，雷內．馬格利特（René Magritte）經常以物件遮蔽人物面容，使臉孔失去原有的辨識功能。以《人子》（The Son of Man）為例，畫中男子的臉被一顆懸浮的青蘋果遮住，只露出部分眼睛。

進入二十一世紀，印尼當代藝術家Ilham Karim在《Faceless》系列中，選擇直接移除人物五官。當表情消失，人物不再指向特定個體，而成為開放的情感載體，觀者只能透過姿勢、動作與畫面情境，推測其心理狀態。

Karim的作品中也經常出現格線、框架與測量符號，使人物彷彿成為被觀看、記錄與分析的對象，並呼應當代人臉辨識、數據追蹤與社群媒體演算法所形成的環境。

René Magritte 與 Ilham Karim 雖身處不同時代與文化背景，卻都透過對臉孔的重新詮釋，思考人的身份與存在。前者探討視覺真實與隱藏之間的關係，後者則回應數位科技、社群媒體與演算法逐漸介入日常生活的當代處境。

Ilham Karim作品中沒有臉的人物在提醒我們，當一個人失去臉部特徵時，就很難將他視為一個有情緒、有身份的個體，反而更像是在觀看一個被測量、被分析的對象。

畫面中人物周圍出現的格線、尺規與線條，像是測量工具，也像螢幕介面。這些元素暗示人物正在被系統觀看、記錄與分析。在一個AI與數據系統能夠記錄動作、預測習慣的時代裡，我們的行為能被數據捕捉，但真正的感受與內在狀態反而成為最難被理解的部分。

因此，當臉被拿掉之後，畫面中留下的只剩身體、姿態與動作。那些人物像是存在於系統之中，卻又與真實的自我保持著距離。

The “faceless” figures in Ilham Karim’s works remind us that when a person loses their facial features, it becomes difficult to see them as an individual with emotions and identity. Instead, they appear more like an object being measured, observed, and analyzed.

The grids, rulers, and lines surrounding the figures resemble measuring tools, as well as screen interfaces. These elements imply that a system is watching, recording, and analyzing the figures. In an age where AI and data systems can record our movements and predict our habits, our behaviors can be captured by data, while our true feelings and inner states become the most difficult parts to understand.

Therefore, when the face is removed, what remains in the image is only the body, posture, and movement. These figures seem to exist within the system while remaining distant from their true selves.

藝術能傳達語言無法完整表達的事嗎？

在Ilham Karim的作品中，經常可以看見各種象徵性的符號。藝術家試圖重新詮釋「疏離感」在當代社會中的意義，並將其視為理解數位時代人類狀態的重要線索。

在高度連結的數位時代裡，人們即使持續與他人保持聯繫，內心仍可能感受到孤獨與距離。Ilham Karim透過畫面中的人物、身體符號與日常物件，呈現此心理狀態，也讓作品成為觀察當代生活與情感關係的象徵。

本次展覽為Ilham Karim在台灣的第二次展覽，誠摯邀請對作品感興趣的觀眾親臨藝時代畫廊，走進他的創作世界，感受作品中關於當代生活的思考。

Can art convey ideas that language cannot fully express?

Ilham Karim‘s works frequently contain symbolic signs. The artist aims to rethink the idea of ”alienation“ in contemporary culture, viewing it as a key to comprehending the human condition in the digital age.

Even in the highly linked digital age, where people are constantly in contact with others, they may nevertheless experience loneliness and remoteness within themselves. Ilham Karim depicts this psychological state through the characters, body symbols, and ordinary things in his works, transforming them into symbols for viewing contemporary life and emotional interactions.

This exhibition marks Ilham Karim’s second exhibition in Taiwan. We sincerely invite viewers who are interested in his works to visit Estyle Art Gallery in person, step into his creative world, and experience his reflections on contemporary life.

In this interview, Indonesian artist Ilham Karim shares how he began his artistic journey and how his upbringing has influenced the style of his work. Everyday scenes in Indonesia, multicultural experiences, social media, and the flow of information are all important elements in his creative practice. These life experiences gradually transform into the vivid colors, figures, gestures, and symbols seen in his paintings.For Ilham Karim, creating art is not only about completing a work but also about rethinking the relationship between oneself, culture, and everyday life. Through this interview, we hope to bring everyone closer to his creative world.

Ilham Karim，1999 年出生於印尼雅加達，成長於巨港，目前生活與創作於日惹。
Karim 以繪畫為主要創作媒介，透過鮮明的色彩、人物形象與多元材料，回應數位文化、當代視覺經驗，以及自身多元文化家庭背景所帶來的身份思考。

Karim 於 2025 年畢業於印尼日惹藝術學院藝術與設計學院，並自 2019 年起展開藝術創作歷程。✍🏼
他的作品曾於印尼、日本、韓國、台灣與英國等地展出，包含 Art Jakarta、ASYAAF、Focus Art Fair London，以及 Art Taichung 等重要展會。
2023 年，他入選 UOB Painting of the Year 決賽，並於 2024 年在雅加達 Sewu Satu Gallery 舉辦首次個展《Butterflies In My Stomach》。

對 Karim 而言，繪畫不只是畫布上的創作行為，更是一種建立連結的方式。

Artist Introduction｜Ilham Karim 🎨

Ilham Karim was born in Jakarta, Indonesia, in 1999 and raised in Palembang. He is currently based in Yogyakarta, where he lives and works as a visual artist.

Working mainly with painting, Karim explores digital culture, contemporary visual experience, and identity shaped by his multicultural family background. His works often feature bold colors, expressive figures, body symbols, and everyday objects.

Since beginning his artistic journey in 2019, Karim’s works have been exhibited in Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom, including Art Jakarta, ASYAAF, Focus Art Fair London, and Art Taichung. In 2023, he was selected as a finalist for the UOB Painting of the Year.

For Karim, painting is a way to connect with people, spaces, and the world around him. His works reflect how people today move through information, social pressure, and the fast pace of daily life.

In 2026, Karim presents his solo exhibition Tuesday, Thursday, and Tiger Balm at Estyle Art Gallery, inviting audiences into a world that feels bright, humorous, and deeply perceptive.
