“The Repostition of Sights” Group Show on view now!

Gathering 10 international artists from Spain, German, the UK, Japan, Bolivia and Belarus, this group show places “seeing” and “being seen” side by side, dissolving the fixed boundaries between observer and observed, allowing the two positions to continuously shift and exchange throughout the act of viewing. As gazes begin to circulate back and forth, seeing becomes more than a simple action.
Through the notion of “Reposition,” the exhibition further reflects on the shifting nature of perspective and perception: how we see artworks, how artworks see us, and how we come to recognize ourselves through these constantly changing positions of seeing.

🚨 NEW SHOW ALERT🚨

“Seeing” has never been a one-way act. As we see artworks, the artworks, in turn, see us back.
“The Reposition of Sights” centers around the dual states of “seeing” and “being seen,” inviting ten international contemporary artists to respond to the familiar act of seeing through their distinctive visual languages.

Some works within the exhibition embody an active gaze: figures within the compositions confront the viewer directly, projecting emotion, energy, and imagination outward, at times even carrying the intention of forming a connection. In doing so, viewers gradually become aware that they themselves are also being seen. Other works return to the more traditional role of being observed, where unfolding scenes, situations, and relationships within the image carry the viewer’s gaze and interpretation, turning seeing into a process of negotiating relationships, power, and distance.

By placing “seeing” and “being seen” side by side, the exhibition dissolves the fixed boundaries between observer and observed, allowing the two positions to continuously shift and exchange throughout the act of viewing.

Meet the Artist no.6

Japanese wood sculptor Akihiko Yoshida aka Nikichi creates works with a distinctly serene and tranquil atmosphere. He insists on using timber sourced from Hokkaido, yet transforms the inherently heavy wood into pieces with a smooth, ethereal quality reminiscent of fine porcelain. His signature closed-eyed anthropomorphic animals appear to be engaged in silent prayer, offering viewers a profound sense of healing and deep peace.

Meet the Artist no.5

Chinese artist Cai Yi Xiu, rooted in the profound heritage of traditional lacquerware craftsmanship, refuses to be confined by the conventional forms of classical vessels. He treats lacquer—once a symbol of prestige and honor—as a liberated contemporary medium for free expression. His works seamlessly blend Eastern Zen aesthetics with modern abstract expressionism. Through the layered accumulation of lacquer colors, they reveal the depth of time and the serenity of the soul, breaking the boundaries between craft and fine art.

Meet the Artist no.4

Japanese sculptor Haguri Takeshi captivates viewers with his woodcarving works full of dramatic tension. Deeply influenced by traditional Japanese Noh theater and ukiyo-e culture, his figures blend the warm, gentle texture of classical woodcarving with strong visual symbols from modern subcultures—such as full-body tattoos and exaggerated masks—revealing the primal desires of human nature and the vital energy of society’s marginal characters. Tattoo is created by Nagasaki Miki, bringing the aesthetic of the sculptures to another level.

Meet the Artist no.3

Berlin-based artist Katharina Arndt uses vibrant colors and glossy materials (such as patent leather and PVC) to critique consumer culture in the contemporary digital age. Her seemingly light-hearted figures and objects, which carry a Pop Art aesthetic, actually serve as a sharp satire on people’s excessive pursuit of appearances, pleasure, and material possessions in the era of social media, reflecting the vanity and emptiness amid the digital flood.
