A Pavilion Yet to Be Named

A Pavilion Yet to Be Named reimagines the everyday pavilion through ceramic sculpture, drawing on Wang's memories of Chiumo Park in Miaoli and his travels to Lanyu. Positioned between architecture and imagination, the works reflect on memory, place, and the human desire for shelter, gathering, and belonging.

Index

YIRI ARTS Jakarta is pleased to present Index, Taiwanese artist Chen Sung-Chih’s first solo exhibition in Jakarta, on view from August 15 to September 20, 2026. An opening reception will be held on August 15 at 4 PM. Bringing together a new body of installation and mixed-media works, the exhibition continues the artist’s ongoing inquiry into the relationships between material, time and space.

Through sustained and subtle interventions into everyday materials, Chen transforms material into a site where events become sedimented, constructing a material field in continuous transformation. Within this field, the boundaries between object and event, surface and depth remain fluid, keeping perception open rather than fixed.

Swaying Icon

Swaying Icon continues Cai Ruei-Heng’s long-standing exploration of order, social norms, and the individual’s suspended state within contemporary society. Through a collage-based visual language, he reconfigures disparate imagery to create scenes that are at once absurd and strangely familiar, reflecting the tension between social expectations, collective belonging, and selfhood.

2026 National Art Exhibition R.O.C.

Artist Li Bing-Ao has been awarded the Gold Medal in the Oil Painting category at the 16th National Art Exhibition R.O.C., organized by the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, for his work Empty Ship, Stay on the Other Shore.

Interweaving everyday scenes along the Tamsui River with drifting, mist-like purple lines, the painting unfolds through layers of movement, passage, and return, evoking an imagined journey toward freedom and an unknown shore.

Congratulations to Bing-Ao on this significant recognition.

Weeds Don’t Obey

Artist Wu Wei-Ting participates in Weeds Don’t Obey, a group exhibition at MoCA TAIPEI, curated by Christina Szu-Yin Chen.

Taking plant migration, proliferation, and adaptation as its point of departure, the exhibition reconsiders the shifting boundaries between the native and the foreign, nature and artificiality, belonging and otherness. As human-made borders become increasingly rigid, plants continue to move across geographical and political divisions, generating their own pathways through urban cracks and unnamed spaces.

For the exhibition, Wu employs “lint rolling” as a method of collection, repurposing a domestic tool traditionally used to remove dust and lint by applying it to the surfaces of outdoor lawns. The roller gathers not only grass clippings, pollen, and seeds, but also pollutants, dust, and urban sediment. Blurred, distorted, and resistant to classification, these residues reveal the continuous exchange between natural and urban environments.

Wu’s work further considers the lawn as a constructed landscape shaped by mowing, planning, and maintenance, while the city itself remains permeable to plant life emerging through pavement cracks, wall corners, and peripheral spaces. Installed along the corridor, Curtain incorporates images of weeds found outside MoCA TAIPEI, creating visual overlaps and displacements that blur the boundaries between interior and exterior, image and reality.

Kyoko Shindo|Between the Terrarium and the Beyond

《Between the Terrarium and the Beyond》

Between the Terrarium and the Beyond takes the terrarium as a metaphor for a self-contained yet ever-evolving world. Through layered color, expressive brushwork, and organic forms, Shindo creates an interconnected landscape where growth and decay, beginnings and endings coexist within the continuous cycle of life.
