展覽規劃Creating Classics: Exhibition Program

今年國際木雕藝術交流展以「人生百態」呼應人物木雕的展覽主題,在生活體驗中挖掘人物風景,藉由木雕傳遞生命中的點滴感動與經驗體察。集結具象寫實以及抽象意境的造型藝術,每一位木雕創作者用共同的雕刻語言,用心刻劃不同的人生故事,透過作品與觀者對話交流,藉由作品的形象對比自身內心的寫照,在具體的人像雕塑中投射對自我的想像,或在抽象的形體中感受不同的人生況味,留下作品與觀者之間最美麗的邂逅。

This year’s International Exchange Exhibition of Wood Sculpture “The Vicissitudes of Daily Life” echoes the exhibition’s figure wood-sculpting theme, mining, from daily life, sceneries involving people. By means of wood sculpting, observations of daily life’s emotions and experiences are transferred. Building up artistic forms of realistic depictions and abstract moods, each wood-sculpting creation, each wood sculptor uses the same wood-carving language and carefully carves different life stories. A dialogue with the viewer is established by means of contrasting the creation’s form with the portrait of the inner-self. The realistic sculpture of a person projects the image of the self, while the abstract form lets us feel the different moods of life, leaving the most beautiful encounter between the work of art and the viewer.

大千世界下的人生百態
The Vicissitudes of Daily Life in the Boundless Universe

米開朗基羅曾經說過:「美麗的人像,不只是表達信念並引起感動,而是視覺藝術中唯一能夠表現真實的主題。」2015年國際木雕藝術交流展,藉著木雕藝術展現生活中的人物姿態,從不同的文化中找尋當代木雕藝術的無限可能。臺灣的雕刻創作與常民生活緊密結合,強調草根性與鄉土味濃厚的土地情感,亦透過木雕創作展現對當今社會的關注。在歷史與時空交會更迭,義大利的木雕工藝底蘊深厚,在傳統技藝與現代美學的揉作下,表現獨到的詮釋風格。
此次展覽探索木雕藝術在不同的地理環境與國情文化的洗禮之下,細細品味藝術家們在寫實與寫意之中,呈現多元且獨創的藝術風格與文化特色。

Michelangelo once said that the beauty of the human figure exists not only as an expression of faith which touches us, but is the only theme in the visual arts through which truth can be expressed. The 2015 International Exchange Exhibition of Wood Sculpture depicts people and objects seen in our everyday lives through the art of wood sculpting. Different cultures offer unlimited possibilities to contemporary wood sculpture art. Wood sculpting has a close connection to the daily lives of the Taiwanese people. It emphasizes grassroots and country spirit with close emotional bonds to the land, while also showing concern for today’s society. Italian wood sculpting is able to provide insight on the profoundness of the intersecting of history and spacetime through unique interpretations of the friction between traditional techniques and modern aesthetics.
This exhibition explores the art of wood sculpting under the influences of different geographical environments and national cultures. Giving audiences the opportunity to delicately savor the unique artistic styles and cultural characteristics presented by the artists through both concrete and abstract creations.

揉合虛實 寫意萬千
Blending the Tangible and the Abstract: Limitless Ways of Interpretation

對比雕鑿具體形象的木雕作品,以抽象概念呈現造型藝術,在雕琢中保有材質的質感以及線條韻味,將鮮明的主題表象,轉換為純粹形式的造型象徵。在創作手法與理念的變換之下,作品透露出的寫意可以恣意地轉譯為多少獨到的見解,因人而異。

In contrast to the concrete form of the carved wood sculpture works, molding art is abstract. During the carving process, the texture and the charm of the contour lines are maintained. The distinctive theme appears and is converted into a purely symbolic form of modeling. When altering creative methods and ideas, the creations reveal that freehand style can willfully be translated into a number of original views, that vary with each individual.

刻木原色Aboriginal Works

臺灣原住民藝術家強調在作品中結合部落元素,散發濃厚的原始藝術氣質。從作品中可以窺探原住民的圖騰文化,發現藝術家將原住民與生俱來的豁達樂天的人生哲學投射在木雕創作裡,趣味橫生。

Taiwanese aboriginal artists emphasize the integration of tribal elements into their art, strongly emitting an original artistic quality. In their creations, the aboriginal totem culture can be recognized, and one can discover that the optimistic and carefree aboriginal life philosophy is cast in their wood sculpting.

映寫真實 刻劃記憶
Reflecting Truth - Carving Memory

深入時代與文化的環節,進入不同主題的情境背景後,藝術家在創作時造就木雕作品的寫實力。無論是傳統工藝或是當代藝術創作,從生活體驗與人生淬鍊中找到創作的養分,刻劃生命中的記憶軌跡,具象地體現情感充沛的木雕藝術。
藉著木雕創作體現生活,強調形體的展現。藝術家依循每塊木頭的獨特形狀,細細雕琢展現人物的姿態,或是曼妙優雅,或是堅毅剛直。隨著立體的創作奇想,不僅是一場豐富的視覺感受,卻是視覺與嗅覺相互牽動的,貼近人心的藝術饗宴。

Through wood sculpting, artists are able dive deeply into layers composed of different eras and cultures to present the contexts of different times.Whether in traditional or contemporary art, nourishment for creation is found in what we experience during the procession of life. Wood sculpting art realistically embodies the abundant emotions of lives engraved by the traces of memory.
Wood sculpting embodies life, and it emphasizes the emerging form. Artists follow the unique shape of each piece of wood and carefully carve a person’s pose, whether it is graceful and elegant or determined and upright. The three-dimensional fantasy that is created is not only a rich visual experience, the senses of vision and smell also influence each other, pressing close to the heart this artistic feast.

2015臺灣國際木雕競賽得獎入圍名單及猜猜誰是第一名活動

1.夜曲Nocturne
魏彪 WEI,BIAO 中國China
此作品用寫實的手法,將女人體與狼結合,意在引發人們對人性與獸性是否可以共生的思考。
This piece was made with techniques of realism, combining a woman’s body with that of a wolf. It is meant to invoke thoughts on whether humanity can co-exist with be****al qualities.

2.物緣Matter Origin

"物非物,緣非緣。無物從緣起,無物從緣滅,起唯諸緣起,滅唯諸緣滅。故知萬法既不從緣生,亦不非緣生。"
Matter is not matter, and origins are not origins on their own, either. Every matter starts with an origin. If the origin goes, so does the matter. Everything starts with an origin. Everything also goes out when the origin is gone. Therefore, the laws of the universe do not come from the birth of origin.

3.閱讀、愛情Reading, Love

經歷是一種閱讀,品嘗著愛情,享受著甜美的同時,也夾雜著苦澀的滋味,這種味覺在來回擺盪,時間久了讓人麻木,忘卻最初的美好。
Experience is a form of reading. When we have a taste of love, we are enjoying its sweetness and tasting its bitterness at the same time. We go back and forth between these feelings, making us numb after a while and causing us to forget what was beautiful in the first place.

4.環境取樣no.7-寂逝的透明
Environment Sample No. 7- Fading Away into Transparency

當人們在為了如何能在小小的土地裡去獲得自己的領地時,自然的萬物們卻無聲且無力的被掠奪,它們是和諧的在捍衛著自然,然而人們是盡力的去消耗自然資源,導致動物們能好好生存的安居之所也逐漸減少。作品寂逝的透明─藉由北極熊的形象來作為一種發聲,期許人們思考,藉由人類雙手所形塑出的溫室,會有什麼不平衡的狀態發生。作品中前端的透明小熊,正是敘述這樣的破壞型態,然而正視北極熊為了熊爪生存的機會與強烈捍衛的小希望,藉由這件作品來期許自我及人們能為這些動物及自然的萬物出點微渺之聲。
When men are trying to grab their own piece of land in this small world, nature’s organisms are helplessly pillaged in silence. They guard nature in harmony, whereas men are do all they can to consume each natural resource. Humans are the reason that there are less and less shelters for the animals. “Fading Away into Transparency” uses the image of polar bears to tackle the issue. The artist implores people to consider the imbalances arising from the greenhouse they have shaped. The small transparent bear in the front of the piece shows the extent of the destruction. We need to take the chances of survival for polar bears seriously and fiercely guard what little hope remains. This work speaks out for all animals and living things, urging us to take appropriate action.

5.所以、該、笑(系列1)So, Should, Laugh (Series 1)

遇到生活中不順遂,會陷入低潮,試圖釐清自己的問題也得不到答案,常聽「以後長大遇到就會懂了,現在身處其境,只有難過,試著給自己勇氣,像兒時跌倒般再站起來笑一個就沒事了,勇敢面對該懂的,因為已經長大了。
When we encounter setbacks in life, we can enter a dip in proceedings. Even if we try to figure out our problems, there are still no answers to be found. We often hear it said, “you will understand when you grow up.” Now that I’m going through a hard time, all I feel is upset. I try to be brave, just like when I was a kid. If I fell, I would just get up again and laugh it off. I should face the things I should understand with courage because I am already an adult.

6.歲月會流逝,美貌不過只是個形體
Time will pass. Beauty is only a superficial body.

從古至今,世人所認定美麗的女人,應該被塑造成最完美的體型就是"沙漏型"。這件作品主要型體的中心是一個沙漏;但是從側面看去,則是個沙漏型的女人體態。作品寓意著歲月會流逝,美貌不過只是個形體,一個人內在的性格和涵養比外在的美貌更重要。
Through out history women have been pressured to conform to a conception of beauty, which holds the "hourglass fiqure" as its most perfect. This sculpture combines the literal form of an hourglass at its centre with an idealized "hourglass fiqure" when viewed form the sides. As we all know, beauty is only skin deep. Appearance is for sure not as important as character or ability.

7.遊園驚夢Surprising Dreams when Strolling in the Garden

由於本人最喜歡戲曲,他們華麗的衣裳及曖昧的神情在戲劇中十分動人,再加上美妙的歌聲,真是令人怡思,利用單刀直入的雕法來表達盡善盡美。
As a fan of the opera, this artist finds an actor’s beautiful and elaborate clothes and subtle expression of love to be deeply moving. With their exquisite voices, it is simply charming. The carvings were done in a very direct way to show this extreme beauty.

8.南方姑娘Southern Girl

每當你在我身旁 就像冬天裡的暖暖的太陽 照耀著我冷冷的冬天 每當看到你青澀的臉龐 感覺我又回到了天真無暇童年的故鄉 每當想念你的時光 都有莫名的滿足與幸福之光 讓我內心不再孤獨不再無助。
Whenever you’re next to me, I feel that you are the warmth of sun in winter, shining on my cold winter. Whenever I see your young face, I feel that I’m back in the hometown of my innocent and carefree childhood. Whenever I think of you, I feel satisfied and happy without reason. My heart no longer feels lonely or helpless.

2015三義國際木雕藝術節系列活動
自8月1日起至8月16日連續三周的星期六、日下午,將於木雕博物館前舉辦山城音樂會,邀請客家歌王陳永淘、新科金曲最佳客語男歌手黃連煜,以及流行樂團929、光引擎等歌手到現場表演;同時還有木雕大師現場創作表演、人氣選拔、木藝體驗等活動,而周邊則設置有藝術市集園遊會及周日名額有限的三義深度小旅行導覽體驗,活動相當精彩豐富。

「李文武沉香雕刻特展」自104年4月1日起至104年6月3日止,於苗栗縣政府國際文化觀光局-三義木雕博物館一館地下室辦理,此次展出50件作品,沉香微妙的香氣變幻莫測、渾然天成,沉香本身凝聚了樹脂結晶的堅實和木質質地軟硬不勻,更加深雕琢的難度,因材質特性,沉香雕刻藝術屬較難掌握的工藝技術,並將於104年4月12日(日)下午2時,於一館地下室舉行開幕典禮,迎舊雨新知蒞臨觀賞。

李文武老師首開沉香木雕特展盛舉,雕刻創作類型有氣勢磅礴的山水系列、法相莊嚴佛像系列、栩栩如生的動物蔬果系列與及吉祥瑞獸等系列;其中作品「大悲觀世音菩薩」高達126公分,這是一尊以整塊安汶沉香隨型精雕而成,佛像的形體、容貌和姿儀皆祥和、寧靜、端祥、莊嚴。沉香雕刻山水系列就如一張中國水墨畫,他以刀代筆技法可細膩可粗曠,作品近可栩栩如生遠卻濛濃悠遠。其中作品多以山林為題材,所刻紋飾山巒起伏,奇石錯落,數株奇松,聳立於房後和崖壁之上,虯枝龍幹。小楓、柏、桐樹,或遠或近插生在危崖峭壁之間,山勢雄偉,逶迤生姿,景色幽致,具精湛的雕刻技藝和不朽的藝術價值。

藝術家創作是對人與大自然懷有愛的具體表現,創作品因愛的元素的注入而有了生命。李文武老師是台灣第一位以珍貴野生動物進行保育木雕創作的藝術家。作者與沉香的結緣早在三十幾年前,在當時雕刻都是以傳統的神明或人物為題材,由於李老師本身雕刻技藝上經歷了日本欄間雙面雕、保育動物系列、山水刻畫系列等焠鍊後,對沉香雕刻已演譯出一套專屬他個人的詮釋手法,更成為海峽兩岸少數沉香雕刻藝術家。沉香雕刻著重於隨型雕刻技巧,盡可能保存沉香原木原有造型肌理,全程雕刻創作全靠經驗與巧思,創造出屬於自己的”具象與心相山水”沉香雕刻藝術,歡迎喜愛木雕的民眾,蒞臨觀賞。
