Moruga Museum

Moruga Museum Preserving yesterday's stories, for today's history. The organization presents new finds and research from the historical era of peoples almost forgotten.

The Moruga Museum has been established for the preservation of the heritage, history, anthropology and culture of all peoples as it relates to Caribbean History and by extention world history. The museum serves as an institution of education in the dissemination of information on its diverse collection of exhibits. Artifacts that are housed bear the origins of peoples that constitute some of the

major populations of the world, who have impressed upon the dynamics of Western civilization. In this context and capacity Museum exhibits are not limited to the Moruga Region and the collection continues to be diverse. The Moruga Museum as it is, is forever evolving based on the continual growth and development of our community. The preservation of the memorabilia on display is an ongoing task we have been entrusted. For a new institution the Moruga Museum has been able to make an indelible impact on the lives of the people not just in Moruga, but throughout the Caribbean region and the wider world. The Museum has already been awarded the Vatican’s Silver Medal from Pope Francis, making it the first Institution to receive such an honor from one of the world’s most profound organisations. The Museum was founded and opened by Moruga's own Eric Lewis, laudably, one of the youngest museum founders in the world. Preservation is the key and Eric Lewis remains steadfast in his vision and purpose. The Museum continues to carry out its objectives with given resources serving the needs of researchers, university students and primary and elementary educational institutions. The Moruga Museum has also been a major driving force in the discovery and preservation of archaeological sites in Trinidad and Tobago.
