Our Story
Twice a year, for the duration of March and November, one artist is invited to share the host's studio in Istanbul. TekTrope is rooted in the virtues of an open studio and an open mind. It challenges the sanctity of the studio space and favours an exchange of ideas between creative minds. It creates a generous platform where we can share and question what we know and create side by side. Ultimately, TekTrope is an invitation to build a creative space through dialogue and innovation. This is a place where you are free to venture beyond convention. For the duration of the residency the host will share his five-room studio converted from an old Istanbul apartment. Resident artist will be assigned a room to work in and another room for his/her accommodation. The residency may include an artist talk/digital presentation of the resident’s work, artist visits, visits to other artists’ studios, galleries and museums. Residents are encouraged to work towards an open studio and/or an exhibition at the end of their stay, in which case the entire studio space would be made available for their use.
