Bugün David Hockney’in 89. doğum günü olacaktı.
“Baharın Gelişi, Normandiya, 2020” sergisini 2022’de SSM’de ağırladık. Pandeminin en yoğun döneminde iPad’le yapılan bu 116 eser, baharın sessiz ısrarını, tomurcuğun çiçeğe, çiçeğin yaprağa dönüşümünü izliyordu. Dünya içeri kapandığında bile, Hockney merak ve ince bir mizahla dışarıya bakmaya devam etti.
Sergi bizi hâlâ sarıldığımız bir mesajla bıraktı:
“Sakın unutmayın, baharı iptal edemezler.” 🌱
Hockney’i bugün, gördüğü her şeye kattığı aynı merak ve mizahla anıyoruz.
Today would have been David Hockney’s 89th birthday.
We hosted his work at the SSM in 2022, in “The Arrival of Spring, Normandy, 2020”: Made on an iPad during the height of the pandemic, the exhibition’s 116 works traced spring’s quiet insistence: a bud opening into a blossom, a blossom into a leaf. Even when the world was shut inside, Hockney kept looking outward, with curiosity and a quiet sense of humour.
The exhibition left us with a message we still hold onto:
“Do remember they can’t cancel the spring.” 🌱
We remember Hockney today for that same curiosity and humour he brought to everything he saw.
