Warm invitation to join us for the opening of the group exhibition CRUISING TERRITORIES at Zilberman | Berlin on Saturday, 23 May 2026, from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Cruising Territories, bringing together works by Heba Y. Amin, Janet Bellotto, Aslı Çavuşoğlu, Fatoş İrwen, Sim Chi Yin, Cengiz Tekin and Wie-yi T. Lauw unfolds across unstable territories. Here, colonial trade routes persist as contemporary networks, while extractive infrastructures and speculative visions of the past actively reorganize land and sea as enduring systems of depletion. In this light, history, memory, and imagination emerge not as passive records, but as operative forces that structure how space is seen, governed, and traversed.

Thank you to everyone who joined us during Gallery Weekend Berlin for the Zilberman Afternoon Tour with İz Öztat and the conversation between İz Öztat and Banu Karaca on the occasion of Öztat’s solo exhibition Vorbei mit der Übeltäterei / Done with evil-doing.

It was a pleasure to spend the afternoon together in the exhibition and to continue the dialogue around Öztat’s new body of work, which was developed in Berlin and responds to the political and social conditions of the present. Drawing on German-language literary, theatrical, and folk traditions, including the Faust myth and Kasperle puppet theatre, Öztat traces how questions of evil, guilt, complicity, obedience, and punishment continue to shape collective memory, political narratives, and everyday forms of conduct.

Our warmest thanks to İz Öztat as well as to Banu Karaca for her generous and insightful contribution to the conversation, which opened up important perspectives on the exhibition, its political and historical resonances, and the accompanying catalogue.

Zilberman Istanbul is pleased to announce It rained heavily that day, a solo exhibition by Eşref Yıldırım.

Eşref Yıldırım’s solo exhibition It rained heavily that day unfolds around the traces that loss leaves on bodies, spaces, and images, approaching grief not simply as an individual experience but as something that moves collectively through everyday life. The exhibition began to take shape following Yıldırım’s loss of his dog, Yağmur, last year, and gradually transformed into a space of mourning after the artist experienced another loss within his family during the production process. Rather than attempting to represent grief directly, the exhibition moves through the absences, repetitions, and fractures it leaves behind. Here, loss is approached beyond the idea of mere disappearance, through the possibility that mourning itself may become a collective form of solidarity.

We are pleased to announce that Simon Wachsmuth is participating in the exhibition “Open your minds at last!” (Sperren Sie endlich Ihren Kopf auf!) — Dada as Political Art Between the World Wars at the Center for Persecuted Arts in Solingen, opening Saturday, May 9, at 6 pm.

The art of the Dadaists is colorful, loud – and by no means uniform. They employed a wide variety of styles and produced literature, poetry, plays, paintings, prints, collages, and photographs. Yet, the political is a central common denominator, a thread running through the movement’s work and expressing itself in diverse and unexpected ways. On its 110th anniversary, “Open your minds at last!” celebrates the Dada art movement and demonstrates the continued relevance of its political engagement.

Zilberman invites artists based in Berlin and artists based in Turkey to apply for Zilberman Unfold ‘26, to the open call that will be selected by an international jury and will take place simultaneously at Zilberman Berlin and Istanbul. ✨🎉📣🌈

Until now known as Young Fresh Different, the programme has supported emerging artistic practices through its open call format since 2010. With this edition, it takes on a new name and format, reflecting a shift in how we approach the programme and the practices it accompanies. Unfold points to a process: something opening, becoming legible, finding its form. For the first time, both locations share a common thematic focus.

The last day to visit İz Öztat’s exhibition “There and Now, and After? ” at our Istanbul gallery is Friday, 24 April, which is presented in relation to her solo exhibition “Vorbei mit der Übeltäterei / Geçti Gitti Kötülükler” at Zilberman | Berlin.

The final day to visit “Snowblind,” a solo exhibition featuring recent works by Çepo (Nezir Akkul), is Friday, April 24.

The paintings are monumental, almost overwhelming, yet the images themselves are reduced to an unsettling simplicity. The surface is ruled by dizzying expanses of void. Far away, a few fragile details: a road without direction, a solitary tree, perhaps an abandoned utility pole. A mood turned inward, folded onto itself. Fog thickens the air. Snow covers the ground like a shroud. And an ultraviolet light dazzles both the eyes and the mind. It is the stillness before the storm, or perhaps its aftermath, when a flood has already washed away every trace. We find ourselves nowhere, in the nowhere of a land without coordinates. The landscape has no name. The earth has no past.

On April 24, Zilberman Istanbul will host a screening of the film A Season in Hakkâri as part of the exhibition, preceded by a talk with Yekhan Pınarlıgil and Çepo.
