ONCE มีโอกาสพูดคุยกับทายาทและทีมงานถึง มณเฑียร บุญมา ศิลปินที่แม้จะจากไปกว่า 2 ทศวรรษ แต่ยังเป็นศิลปินคนสำคัญของวงการศิลปะไทย ในงาน "As If – he were here (ราวกับว่า – มณเฑียรยังอยู่)" ที่บางกอก คุนส์ฮาเลอ เมื่อช่วงปลายเดือนเมษายนที่ผ่านมา งานนี้ไม่ใช่แค่งานรำลึกถึงอาจารย์มณเฑียรและ จันทร์แจ่ม บุญมา (ภรรยาของอาจารย์) เท่านั้น แต่นี่คือจุดเริ่มต้นของภารกิจใหญ่ของเหล่าทายาทในนาม Estate of Montien ในการเป่าฝุ่นผลงาน Unseen 6 ชิ้นที่ค้นพบในคอนโดของอาจารย์มณเฑียรมาจัดแสดงให้ชมกันแบบใกล้ชิด เพื่อสร้างคลังความรู้ให้คนรุ่นใหม่ได้ศึกษาโดยไม่ต้องบินไปไกลถึงมิวเซียมในต่างประเทศ
แบงค์-จุมพงษ์ บุญมา ลูกชายของอาจารย์มณเฑียร ย้อนความจำให้ฟังว่า “คุณพ่อเริ่มมาสนใจทำงานเกี่ยวกับศาสนามากขึ้นตอนคุณแม่ป่วย... เขาเลยเข้าสู่ศาสนามากขึ้นเพื่อให้จิตใจสงบขึ้น ... งานในช่วงนั้นของคุณพ่อจึงเป็นงานที่มีความเป็นวงกลม บางภาพมีรูปทรงเหมือนบาตรพระ หรือภาพสเกตช์ต่างๆ เกี่ยวกับพระพุทธศาสนา”
ส่วน แพร-สไบแพร มุกดาประกร Managing Director ของ Estate of Montien มองว่า “อามณเฑียรคือศิลปินที่มีหัวก้าวหน้ากว่าคนในรุ่นเดียวกันค่ะ เขามีความคิดล้ำแบบไร้กรอบและกล้าทดลองอะไรใหม่ๆ เสมอ ทำให้งานของอามณเฑียรมักออกมาเป็นงานสื่อผสม มักมีการใช้วัสดุแปลกๆ” แม้ผลงานชิ้นใหญ่ๆ จะถูกสะสมไปหมดแล้ว แต่สิ่งที่ Estate of Montien Atelier เก็บรักษาไว้อย่างดีคือภาพสเกตช์และบันทึกการศึกษา ซึ่งเป็นเหมือน "ลายแทง" ทางความคิดที่หาดูที่ไหนไม่ได้

Thanks to Thai PBS World for a very well written article and good observation on the event.

Attending the “As if he were here” event at Bangkok Kunsthalle last Sunday felt less like a memorial and more like a gravity check.

ทาง Estate of Montien ขอขอบคุณทุกท่านที่มาร่วมเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของงาน ”As if he were here...ราวกับว่ามณเฑียรยังอยู่“ พวกเราดีใจที่เห็นว่ามีคนที่รัก และ ชื่นชม อ.มณเฑียร และชื่นชมผลงานของท่านมากมาย

เราหวังว่ามรดกทางความคิด จากผลงาน และสิ่งที่ท่านได้ทิ้งไว้ จะถูกส่งผ่าน และเป็นแรงบันดาลใจให้คนรุ่นหลังได้เรียนรู้ ปรับใช้ และสร้างสรรค์ผลงานที่ดีในแบบของตัวเองได้ต่อไป ไม่ว่าท่านจะอยู่ในสายงานอาชีพใด เพราะเราเชื่อว่าสิ่งที่คนหนึ่งคนได้ทำ สามารถส่งผลต่อผู้อื่นได้เสมอ ไม่ทางใดก็ทางหนึ่ง
