Pair of Turkmen silver-gilt temple pendants (asyk), composed of pierced openwork plaques set with carnelian cabochons and fitted with articulated chain suspensions terminating in hollow silver bells. Worn as part of a woman’s ceremonial headdress. Turkmenistan, late 19th–early 20th century.

Amongst these recently acquired objects, you will find this bronze mirror handle dating from the Majapahit empire, an Hindu-Buddhist thalassocraty in Southeast Asia, based on the island of Java. It is cast into the shape of a stylized bird. The circular bottom part was attached to an ancient bronze mirror, now missing. Circa 12-14th century. Width 15.5cm.
