แนะนำนิทรรศการ [ ร่าง-ทรง-จำ | Soma-to-mnesis ]
นิทรรศการนี้เป็นการนำเสนอ ‘ร่าง’ ของ นลธวัช มะชัย ตลอด 8 ปีที่ผ่านมา ที่ได้ 'ทรง' เหตุการณ์ทางการเมือง และการดูดซับบาดแผลของสังคม ในทุกการเคลื่อนไหว คือการเผชิญหน้ากับความตายเพื่อเปิดพื้นที่ให้ ‘สิ่งอื่น’ ได้ข้ามผ่านเข้ามามีลมหายใจภายในร่าง... และเมื่อการแสดงสิ้นสุดลง ร่างนี้ได้ฝังการ 'จำ' เข้าไปในเนื้อหนัง ผ่านการฉีกขาดและถูกสร้างขึ้นใหม่ซ้ำแล้วซ้ำเล่า
สิ่งเหล่านี้ได้ถูกนำเสนอผ่าน ภาพถ่าย ภาพเคลื่อนไหว และวัตถุพยานในการแสดง เพื่อสำรวจเส้นเวลาอันซับซ้อนของอดีตที่ไม่ได้เป็นเพียงสิ่งที่หยุดนิ่ง แต่ยังคงสั่นสะเทือนมาจนถึงปัจจุบัน การขุดค้นความทรงจำในครั้งนี้จึงไม่ใช่เพียงการหวนรำลึกเพื่ออาลัยอาวรณ์ แต่เป็นการเผชิญหน้ากับอดีตเพื่อยืนยันสถานะของพยาน และจินตนาการถึงทิศทางที่ร่างกายและประวัติศาสตร์จะนำพาเราก้าวไปสู่อนาคต

นิทรรศการนี้เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของโครงการจดหมายเหตุ “Cozomia Performing Arts Archive” โดยรายได้หลังหักค่าใช้จ่ายจากการจำหน่ายผลงานจะนำไปสมทบทุนในโครงการของหอจดหมายเหตุเพื่อขับเคลื่อนการทำจดหมายเหตุศิลปะการแสดงต่อไป

This exhibition presents the 'body' of Nontawat Machai over the past eight years—a body that has held political events and absorbed the wounds of society. Each movement is a confrontation with death, opening space for 'something else' to enter and breathe within. When the performance ends, 'memory' remains embedded in the flesh: torn open, rebuilt, and inscribed again and again.
These traces unfold through photographs, moving images, and performative artefacts, tracing a complex temporality in which the past does not remain still, but continues to reverberate into the present. This excavation of memory is not merely an act of remembrance, but a confrontation with the past—one that affirms the position of the witness, and imagines the paths through which body and history may carry us forward.

A Reading Performance by Grace Samboh

MAIIAM Contemporary Art Museum and 100 Tonson Foundation are pleased to announce the launch of 𝑨𝒓𝒂𝒚𝒂 𝑹𝒂𝒔𝒅𝒋𝒂𝒓𝒎𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒔𝒐𝒐𝒌: 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑩𝒐𝒖𝒒𝒖𝒆𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑾𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉, a major new publication dedicated to the work of Thai artist Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook. The book is co-published by MAIIAM, Art Jameel, and Press Works, and will be celebrated with a public event at 100 Tonson Foundation in Bangkok on Sunday, 15 March 2026.

The evening will begin with a conversation between the book’s editor Roger Nelson and curator Kittima Chareeprasit, joined by Time Chotivilaivanit, who has worked closely with Araya for many years. Together, they will reflect on the development of the publication and share insights into the themes and perspectives that emerged through the process of assembling the book.

The program will conclude with a special reading performance by Grace Samboh, presenting her chapter 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑵𝒊𝒏𝒆-𝑫𝒂𝒚 𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒈𝒏𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝒂 𝑺𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒆 𝑴𝒊𝒅𝒅𝒍𝒆-𝑨𝒈𝒆𝒅 𝑨𝒔𝒔𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒇𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒐𝒓: 𝑨 𝑷𝒐𝒔𝒕𝒔𝒄𝒓𝒊𝒑𝒕. In this performative reading, Samboh translates one of Araya’s video works into a literary and auditory experience, extending the work beyond the visual field and inviting audiences to consider how the life of an artwork may continue through language, interpretation, and embodied narration.

𝑨𝒓𝒂𝒚𝒂 𝑹𝒂𝒔𝒅𝒋𝒂𝒓𝒎𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒔𝒐𝒐𝒌: 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑩𝒐𝒖𝒒𝒖𝒆𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑾𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉 offers an expansive and generously illustrated response to the artist’s multifaceted practice, with contributions from artists, curators, and scholars. Alongside critical examinations of Araya’s work in relation to Buddhist thought and global contemporary art histories, the publication also reflects on her significant contributions to art education in Thailand and her enduring impact across Southeast Asia and beyond.

Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook: The Bouquet and the Wreath offers an expansive and generously illustrated response to the artist’s multifaceted practice, with contributions from artists, curators and scholars. Alongside critical examinations of Araya’s practice in relation to Buddhist thought and global contemporary art histories, the book also studies her significant contributions to art education in Thailand and reveals her enduring impact across Southeast Asia and beyond.

For over 45 years, Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook’s art has lamented the tragedy and suffering of existence, while also cherishing the precious nourishment presented by her life’s companions: grief, dogs, literature, flowers, memories, and a relentlessly mercurial, mischievous mirth. Araya’s whimsical yet sombre artworks invite us to dwell on immense philosophical questions. What is the purpose of art? What does it mean to be human? She obliquely quips: “I don’t need to spell out everything that I feel, do I?”
