Watch a special interview featuring four contemporary Thai artists—Jakkai Siributr, Imhathai Suwattanasilp, Supawich Weesapen, and Teerapon Sisung—as they discuss the concepts behind their works in the group exhibition “Weaving Matter and Memory,” presented in collaboration with Bottega Veneta, curated by Somsuda Piamsumrit.

Inspired by Bottega Veneta’s Intrecciato technique, the exhibition presents how the four artists employ weaving, deconstructing, reassembling, and unfolding as artistic languages to explore the relationships between matter and memory.

“Weaving Matter and Memory” is on view from 14 June to 5 July 2026 at Bangkok Kunsthalle.

Thank you to everyone who joined the second and third “ล้อมวง (Surrounded)” Open Studio led by our artists-in-residence elekhlekha อีเหละเขละขละ, and thank you to all who have been following this residency.

The “ล้อมวง (Surrounded)” Open Studio series continues to evolve as a living knowledge-exchange platform between distinct voices. Across the past two sessions, Matas Masungsong and Kanta Kantaphong shared their musical practices, drawing from traditions of Thai percussion, and Southern Thai music. Together, they offered participants a closer look into the forms of music-making informing the project.

One final “ล้อมวง (Surrounded)” Open Studio session will take place on Saturday, 20 June from 1 - 4 PM, before the project culminates in a performance on Saturday, 27 June. More information and tickets can be found via the link in bio.

The residency is made possible through the generous support of Yamaha Music Thailand, who have graciously provided a Yamaha Disklavier Grand Piano DC3X ENPRO and professional audio equipment for the project. This residency is supported in part by a grant from the Jerome Foundation.

Bangkok Kunsthalle invites you to join “Craft in the Context of Contemporary Art”, a panel discussion from the contemporary art exhibition “Weaving Matter and Memory”, presented in partnership with Bottega Veneta. The discussion will feature four Thai artists—Jakkai Siributr, Imhathai Suwattanasilp, Supawich Weesapen, and Teerapon Sisung—moderated by curator Somsuda Piamsamrit on Sunday, 21 June 2026.
This discussion will introduce the themes of the exhibition, focusing on the artists' respective practices to the conceptual framework of weaving—a distinctive metaphor that echoes Intreccio, the iconic weaving technique that forms the foundation of Bottega Veneta’s iconic bags. Together, the artists and curator will unravel the artistic language embedded within matter and memory, revealing stories woven together as intricately as the interlaced strands that shape each work.

The program will take place from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at Bangkok Kunsthalle. The conversation will be held in Thai.

Bangkok Kunsthalle is pleased to present “Weaving Matter and Memory”, a contemporary art exhibition curated by Somsuda Piamsumrit in collaboration with Bottega Veneta. The exhibition features works by four Thai artists: Jakkai Siributr, Imhathai Suwattanasilp, Supawich Weesapen, and Teerapon Sisung.

“Weaving Matter and Memory” draws inspiration from the house’s signature Intrecciato leather weave, which has shaped its iconic bag silhouettes since its founding in Vicenza, Veneto, in 1966. Developed in close collaboration between Creative Director Louise Trotter and Bangkok Kunsthalle, the exhibition presents artists whose practices interpret weaving in both physical and conceptual forms.

Weaving, as both technique and mode of thought, brings distinct elements into a cohesive whole, forming something more resilient and expressive. Across diverse materials, methods, and processes, the artists work with weaving, deconstruction, reassembly, and unfolding as artistic languages to explore the relationship between matter and memory.

“Weaving Matter and Memory” will be on view from 14 June – 5 July 2026 at Bangkok Kunsthalle.

Thank you to everyone for being part of the opening of “Spirits Melt to Flesh,” a group exhibition featuring eight Asian artists, curated by Sam I-shan.

Set within the raw spaces of Bangkok Kunsthalle, the exhibition brings together a diverse range of artistic practices, including moving image, sound, sculptural and photographic installations. The works invite audiences to reflect how societal realities are continually shaped by forces that evade full comprehension. Drawing from the bodily and otherworldly, while excavating myths and minor narratives., each artist transforms these narratives into tangible forms. The artworks engage in visual and aural conversation with each other and the exhibition space to create a dialogue that supports and enriches the stories being told.

Bangkok Kunsthalle would like to extend its sincere gratitude to artists Anthony Chin, Daniel Hui, HeeSue Kwon, Hsu Che-Yu + Chen Wan-Yin, Lieko Shiga, Soe Yu Nwe and Taiki Sakpisit, as well as curator Sam I-shan, and everyone whose contributed to this exhibition.

“Spirits Melt to Flesh” is now on view at Bangkok Kunsthalle until 4 October 2026. The exhibition is supported by the Japan Foundation.

Bangkok Kunsthalle invites you to be part of the final performance of “ล้อมวง (Surrounded)” by artists-in-residence elekhlekha อีเหละเขละขละ, on Saturday, 27 June 2026, at 8:00 PM. Doors open at 7:00 PM with an opening reception.

Following an extensive period of the research-based immersive audiovisual practice by Nitcha Tothong and Kengchakaj, in collaboration with Thai traditional instrumentalists Kanta Kantaphong, Matas Masungsong and jazz drummer Pitchaon Kanajaroen, the project gradually revealed itself through four participatory open studios throughout May and June 2026. The project now culminates in a final performance, featuring lighting design by Voratorn Peerapongpan, bringing together and concluding the outcomes of this collaborative research process.

Bangkok Kunsthalle invites you to join a conversation with artists Anthony Chin, Daniel Hui, HeeSue Kwon, Soe Yu Nwe, and Taiki Sakpisit, moderated by curator Sam I-shan, on Friday, 5 June 2026, the opening day of the exhibition “Spirits Melt to Flesh”.

The works in "Spirits Melt to Flesh" consider representations of regional histories and personal subjectivities by juxtaposing the bodily with the otherworldly, and excavating myths and minor narratives. This discussion will introduce the themes of the exhibition, focusing on the artists' respective practices across film and moving image, performance, site-responsive installation and sculpture.

The artists and curator dialogue will begin at 4:30 PM, followed by the opening reception at 6:00 PM. The exhibition is supported by The Japan Foundation.

Thank you to everyone who joined the lecture “Architecture in Limbo” by Dominique Petit-Frère and Emil Grip, founders of the architecture and research studio Limbo Accra.

The lecture introduced architectural practices that operate within a range of conditions, from unfinished sites to spaces existing in transitional states. It offered insight into the framework of the Limbo Museum, which brings together curatorial strategies, spatial experimentation, cultural programming, and alternative exhibition formats. In this context, architecture is not merely a tool, but also a platform for artistic engagement, discourse and community.

We would like to thank Dominique Petit-Frère and Emil Grip for sharing and presenting all of these fascinating stories with us.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the first “ล้อมวง (Surrounded)” Open Studio, hosted by our artists-in-residence elekhlekha อีเหละเขละขละ, alongside Thai traditional instrumentalists Kanta Kantaphong, Matas Masungsong, and jazz drummer Pitchaon Kanajaroen.

The Open Studio marked the first meeting of these musicians within the residency, offering the public a first glimpse into the rehearsal process behind “ล้อมวง (Surrounded)”. The session also included a participatory workshop led by elekhlekha, inviting audiences into the development of the composition itself.

กิจกรรม Open Studio ทั้งหมดเปิดให้เข้าชมฟรีโดยไม่ต้องสำรองที่นั่ง ผู้สนใจสามารถเข้าร่วมได้ตามเวลาที่สะดวกในระยะเวลาของกิจกรรม

โครงการศิลปินในพำนักครั้งนี้เกิดขึ้นได้ด้วยความอนุเคราะห์จาก Yamaha Music Thailand ผู้ให้การสนับสนุนเปียโน Yamaha Disklavier Grand Piano DC3X ENPRO รวมถึงอุปกรณ์และระบบเสียงระดับมืออาชีพตลอดระยะเวลาโครงการ
