Finally back home after a week of adventures in the Czech Republic and another FIVA World Motorcycle Rally.
As always, it was great to spend time with old friends, discover beautiful roads and visit fascinating places rich in history and culture. South Bohemia offered an excellent programme, with castles, historic towns, museums and many opportunities to better understand the regions through which we rode. My wife and I had a wonderful time, and special credit goes to the organizers for also providing an interesting programme for accompanying partners.
After attending FIVA motorcycle rallies for many years – and having (co)organized two of them myself (in 2008 and 2019) – I cannot help but reflect on both the positives and the negatives. While this year's event stood out for its strong cultural content and excellent local organization, some long-standing issues within the rally concept remain unresolved.
Perhaps it is time for new ideas, fresh thinking and a renewed focus on quality and tradition.
