Wan Qing Yuan - Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall 晚晴园-孙中山南洋纪念馆 The SYSNMH reopened on 8 October 2011 after a year-long revamp. SYSNMH is closed on Mondays.

Owned by Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry and gazetted as a national monument in October 1994, Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall sheds light on the lesser-known details of Singapore and Nanyang’s involvement in the 1911 Revolution. Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall (SYSNMH), a heritage institution owned by Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry and managed by the National Heritage Board, traces Dr. Sun's revolutionary activities in the Southeast Asian region and highlights the impact of the 1911 Revolution on Singapore as well as Singapore's contributions to the Revolution. The refreshed Memorial Hall features a new storyline and galleries which introduce key community leaders in the early 20th Century; highlights Nanyang as a base for Revolution; and explores the impact and influences of the 1911 Revolution on the Singapore Chinese community.

From Chinese calligraphy to lion dance, our programmes have offered different ways to discover the diverse traditions, skills and knowledge that make up our intangible cultural heritage. Through activities, performances and stories shared across our programmes, we get to learn about the people behind these traditions and the stories they carry. 📖

Palanquins play an important role in the Nine Emperor Gods Festival. The deities received from the sea are invited into the palanquins and escorted back to the temple, where the main rituals and celebrations take place.

This rare three-tiered palanquin from the National Collection is said to have been carried only by women, as its first-tier houses Dou Mu Niang Niang, the mother of the Nine Emperor Gods.

Celebrations for the Nine Emperor Gods Festival are ongoing till 18 October 2026!

From observing a strict vegetarian diet before and during the festival to the invitation and send-off of the Nine Emperor Gods by the sea, the Nine Emperor Gods Festival is rich in rituals and traditions. Deeply rooted in the traditions of the Chinese community, the festival forms an integral part of Singapore’s intangible cultural heritage.

As the evening turned to night, our hearts were as full as the moon seeing so many of you join us for Wan Qing Mid-Autumn Festival 2026 @ Lights by the Lake! 🌕✨

A huge thank you to Jurong Lake Gardens and NParks for welcoming us to be part of Lights by the Lake 2026, as we came together to share Chinese culture and heritage with the community.

We would also like to thank our partners, 讲华语运动 Speak Mandarin Campaign, Speak Good English Movement and Murong Hanfu Rental- SG, for their wonderful support towards the festival.
