A look back at our Children’s Day celebrations at The Private Museum, where we partnered with Chamber Music and Arts Singapore (CMAS) (Chamber Music & Arts Singapore) to present “Mozart, Little Genius” as part of The Glasshouse comes ALIVE! The programme welcomed preschool classes, and residents of The Hills Residents’ Network (The Hills Residents' Network).

Inspired by Justin Lim’s paintings, children & families embarked on an interactive exploration of their five senses through the painted imagery, accompanied by live wind music by Mozart. This was followed by a hands-on craft activity, where the children translated their own memories of home into miniature dioramas that they could bring home.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us in bringing storytelling, art-making, and musical discovery together across all of our sessions!

What happens to an artwork throughout its lifetime, and what does it take to care for it along the way?

The Private Museum is pleased to announce the inaugural edition of ‘Pillars’, a curated public programme series highlighting the people, professions and organisations forming the pillars that support the arts and cultural ecosystem. Through conversations with practitioners across the industry, each session offers insight into the expertise behind the work that we create, preserve, present and share.

In this sharing, BARC Labs (BARC Labs) explores the journey of an artwork, the many hands it passes through, and the role of conservation in preserving it for future generations. The session offers an introduction to the work of art conservators, with an exploration of conservation techniques through a show-and-tell segment.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Artist Talk and Publication Launch for ‘Reverie: Paintings for the Observer and the Observed — A Survey of Works from 2020–2026 by Justin Lim’.

Our heartfelt thanks go to artist Justin Lim, Aaron Teo, Associate Director of The Private Museum, and writer Deborah Lim for generously sharing their time, perspectives, and insights throughout the session. The conversation offered a closer look into Justin’s six-year body of work, exploring themes of memory, lived experience, domestic spaces, observation, and the relationship between the observer and the observed.

The publication for ‘Reverie’ is now available at The Private Museum Shop. Discover the artist’s works from 2020–2026 and delve deeper into the ideas, processes, and stories behind this survey of his practice.

Discover the art of ikebana with Christopher Lim (Christopher Lim Aifd) in this beginner-friendly floral arrangement workshop at The Private Museum.

In this session, participants will be walked through the history of ikebana and its different schools and styles, before a live demonstration and a hands-on activity to create their very own free-style arrangement. No prior experience is required, and all materials will be provided.

After the workshop, participants are welcome to stay on for a complimentary guided tour of the exhibition, ‘Reverie: Paintings for the Observer and the Observed – A Survey of Works from 2020–2026 by Justin Lim’.

Thank you for joining us on Thursday, 17 September 2026 for the opening reception of ‘Reverie: Paintings for the Observer and the Observed – A Survey of Works from 2020–2026 by Justin Lim’. It was an evening filled with friendship, community, and moments of reverie.

We were honoured to welcome our Guest of Honour, Her Excellency Datin Paduka Anizan Siti Hajjar Adnin, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Singapore. In her speech, Her Excellency spoke to the importance of cultural exchange in strengthening the ties between Singapore and Malaysia, and how art can create spaces for dialogue, understanding, and connection across borders.

Our sincere appreciation goes to artist Justin Lim for his trust, generosity, and unwavering dedication in bringing ‘Reverie’ to life. We are also grateful to the various lenders for their trust and generosity in sharing these works with us and making this survey possible.

To all our patrons, partners, friends, and supporters, we are deeply grateful for your presence and continued support of The Private Museum. Your contributions have enabled us to bring ‘Reverie’ to fruition and create a space for art, conversation, and connection.

The Private Museum is pleased to present the Artist Talk and Publication Launch for ‘Reverie: Paintings for the Observer and the Observed – A Survey of Works from 2020–2026 by Justin Lim’. Join artist Justin Lim, Museum Associate Director Aaron Teo, and writer Deborah Lim as they delve into the ideas behind ‘Reverie’ and reflect on the evolution of Justin’s artistic practice from 2020 to 2026.

The accompanying publication, featuring a survey of Justin Lim’s works from 2020–2026 alongside essays and reflections on his practice, will also be available for purchase in our Museum Shop.
