Discover the art of ikebana with Christopher Lim (Christopher Lim Aifd) in this beginner-friendly floral arrangement workshop at The Private Museum.

In this session, participants will be walked through the history of ikebana and its different schools and styles, before a live demonstration and a hands-on activity to create their very own free-style arrangement. No prior experience is required, and all materials will be provided.

After the workshop, participants are welcome to stay on for a complimentary guided tour of the exhibition, ‘Reverie: Paintings for the Observer and the Observed – A Survey of Works from 2020–2026 by Justin Lim’.

The Private Museum is pleased to present ‘Reverie: Paintings for the Observer and the Observed: A Survey of Works from 2020–2026 by Justin Lim’.

Bringing together key bodies of work from a pivotal six-year period in the artist’s practice, ‘Reverie’ traces Lim’s sustained engagement with painting as a space for reflection, memory, and lived experience. Emerging from the isolation and uncertainty of the Covid-19 pandemic, his paintings turn to domestic interiors and everyday objects, transforming familiar spaces into sites of contemplation, refuge, and emotional resonance. Moving between the roles of observer and observed, the exhibition invites us to look, remember, and dwell, and to consider how the spaces we inhabit shape the ways we experience and make sense of the world.

‘Reverie: Paintings for the Observer and the Observed’ opens at The Private Museum on 17 September 2026, and will show till 6 December 2026. For more information, please write to our team at [email protected] or (65) 8068 1151.

Earlier this month, we gathered at The Private Museum to celebrate the life and legacy of the late Khoo Sui Hoe, a painter, pioneer, and distinctive voice in Southeast Asian art.

It was an evening of heartfelt tributes and the warmth of friendship. We are deeply grateful to Mr Daniel Teo, Mr Goh Beng Kwan, Mr Lee Khai, Mr Kwok Kian Chow, and Mr Lim Leong Seng for sharing their personal remembrances of Mr Khoo, and to all who joined us on the evening.

We also extend our warm thanks to Datok Seri Lim Chong Keat and Mr T. K. Sabapathy, who could not be with us but reached out with their heartfelt well wishes.

Khoo Sui Hoe leaves behind a body of work that continues to move and inspire. May his memory live on in those who had the privilege of knowing him, and in all who encounter his work.

We gather to celebrate a life beautifully lived.

In 2014–2015, The Private Museum had the honour of presenting not one but two exhibitions dedicated to Khoo Sui Hoe’s work — Khoo Sui Hoe: An Overview Part I – The Artist Collection from the 1980s to Present, followed by Khoo Sui Hoe: An Overview Part II – The Patron, Datuk Seri Lim Chong Keat’s Collection from the 1960s to 1980s. Together, they traced six decades of a singular artistic vision. His work has stayed close to our hearts since.

Now, we invite you to join us in celebrating the life and legacy of this pioneering figure in modern Southeast Asian art.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of artist Mr Chua Mia Tee and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, loved ones, and all whose lives he touched.

Mr Chua often said, “First comes the country, then family, then me” (先有国，后有家，才有我). This conviction defined both his life and artistic practice. Believing that art could cultivate virtue, patriotism, and a deeper sense of belonging, he devoted himself to portraying the people, aspirations, and everyday realities that shaped Singapore’s story.

In July 2025, The Private Museum was honoured to present ‘The Art of Lee Boon Ngan’, an exhibition celebrating the artistic partnership of Me Chua Mia Tee and his wife, fellow artist Mdm Lee Boon Ngan. Marking sixty years of their enduring love alongside Singapore’s 60th birthday, the exhibition reflected a lifetime of shared dedication to each other, to art, and to the nation they cherished.

As we remember Mr Chua Mia Tee, we honour not only an artist of remarkable conviction, but also a man whose unwavering belief in the role of art as a service to society continues to resonate. His legacy lives on through his works and the generations they will continue to inspire.

Rest in peace, Mr Chua Mia Tee (1931–2026).

Thank you to everyone who joined us on 27 June 2026 for the Curator’s Guided Tour and E-Publication Launch for ‘Shadows, Signals, and the Line: Abstract Expressionism in Singapore’.

Our heartfelt thanks go to curator John Z. W. Tung and Aaron Teo, Associate Director of The Private Museum, for generously sharing their time, perspectives, and insights throughout the tour. We hope the session offered a deeper appreciation of the many ways abstraction has evolved in Singapore, and the ideas, histories, and artistic practices that continue to shape it.
