In ‘Come Come, We Can Fit In’, Alejandro Contreras Moiraghi transforms a limousine, often associated with exclusivity and status, into something almost communal. Packed with overlapping figures and carried forward by countless moving legs beneath it, the vehicle no longer feels luxurious in the traditional sense, but animated by collective presence and shared movement. The exaggerated length of the limousine pushes the image toward absurdity, yet there is humour in the way space continues to be made for more people to enter.

Against the intense red background, the repeated figures begin to blur into one another, portraying both individuality and belonging at the same time. The title itself carries an open invitation, hinting at ideas of inclusion, participation, and the human desire to find space within a larger group. Rather than celebrating exclusivity, the work seems to question it. Proposing that value may instead lie in togetherness and the willingness to make room for others.

Set beneath a luminous moon and surrounded by blooming peach trees, ‘Oath of the Peach Garden’ reimagines one of the most enduring moments from Romance of the Three Kingdoms. In this celestial interpretation, Han Fang transforms the legendary oath of Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei into something almost mythic. A bond suspended between history, legend, and the infinite expanse of the cosmos.

Glowing peach blossoms, celestial light, and sweeping galaxies dissolve the boundary between myth and memory, transforming an ancient promise into something eternal. The work carries a sense of grandeur and emotion, yet remains intimate at its core. A reflection on devotion, honour, and the enduring ties that bind people together across generations.

White Space Art Asia is delighted to participate in the fourth edition of the Modern and Contemporary Art Festival, more widely known as MoCAF. Marking the gallery’s debut within the Philippine art scene, this presentation reflects the evolving journey of our gallery: from the introspective spirit of Chinese ink that shaped our beginnings, to the bold and vibrant visual language of Indonesian contemporary art, and finally to the subdued, earthy sensibilities of Japanese ink, where tradition quietly meets modernity.

This summer in Metro Manila, we are proud to present six artists from across Asia: Andry Boy Kurniawan, Palito Perak, Aurora Santika, Shen Zi Yao, Zhang Wen, and Kei Sugiyama. As their works make their Philippine debut, we hope their distinct voices will invite new ways of seeing, feeling, and experiencing art.

In ‘Endless Gaiety’, Zhang Wen captures a quiet winter-like scene where children and geese occupy the same muted landscape, their small movements softened by distance and atmosphere. The painting’s subdued palette and delicate brushwork create an atmosphere of stillness, yet within that stillness, exists a quiet sense of play and companionship. Rather than depicting joy as loud or dramatic, the work presents gaiety as something subtle, found in shared moments, wandering figures, and the calm rhythm of everyday life.

📢 We are accepting submissions!

We have been receiving many portfolios in our email and we also have been reviewing them thoroughly. Due to the overwhelming submissions, we thought to do an official open call for artists based in Indonesia since we are actively growing our family there.

We invite emerging and mid-career artists based in Indonesia to submit their portfolio for consideration in our upcoming programs in Singapore and Indonesia.

This is an opportunity for artists who are ready to grow internationally and engage with the broader contemporary art landscape.

In Tan Choh Tee’s ‘Fishing Village’, the gentle rhythm of river life comes alive. A row of humble stilt houses rests above the water, its weathered walls tell stories of quiet mornings and warm evenings. A narrow jetty carries quiet footsteps, and a lone boat rests, holding the memories of kampong days, where every plank, every reflection, and every shadow tells a story of lives intertwined with water, wind, and the enduring pulse of home. Calling us back to the quiet joys of simpler times, when life unfolded at its own gentle rhythm. ⛵️
