Singapore Art Museum

Singapore Art Museum SAM is a Museum In Action, bringing art experiences into everyday spaces. Singapore Art Museum opened in 1996 as the first art museum in Singapore.

Also known as SAM, we present contemporary art from a Southeast Asian perspective for artists, art lovers and the art curious in multiple venues across the island, including a new venue in the historic port area of Tanjong Pagar. SAM is building one of the world's most important public collections of Southeast Asian contemporary art, with the aim of connecting the art and the artists to the public

and future generations through exhibitions and programmes. SAM is working towards a humane and sustainable future by committing to responsible practices within its processes. For more information, visit www.singaporeartmuseum.sg.

Through the Taโ€™Lur fruit, Tay explores how nature can become a way of sensing, recording, and sharing information. Producing a hallucinogenic sap during tidal cycles that create shared visions amongst the islandโ€™s inhabitants, its changing visions mirror the processes of data generation and our digital networks.

Open until 6 September, encounter the evolving archive of Sangkalan, alongside a storytelling fable and a take-home colouring sticker activity. Admission is free!

What does rest look like?

In Amanda Heng Liang Ngimโ€™s ๐˜ผ ๐™‹๐™–๐™ช๐™จ๐™š (2025โ€“26), rest takes many forms: watering plants, preparing breakfast, walking, reading, listening, or simply being still.

Filmed across Venice and Singapore, the dual-channel video brings together everyday moments from Venetian residents and the artist herself, showing how rest can be found not only in stopping, but also in the familiar rhythms of daily life.

At the Singapore Pavilion, visitors are invited to spend time with the work and consider what rest might look and feel like for them.
