A Little Watercolour Journey 🎨
As I begin exploring the world of watercolour, I’ve been learning about some of the most respected brands, each with its own history, character and personality.
🇬🇧 Winsor & Newton Professional – The benchmark for many professional artists. Rich pigments, exceptional lightfastness and an extensive colour range that has stood the test of time.
🇫🇷 Charvin – Handmade in France with beautifully luminous colours and a uniquely elegant palette. A joy for artists who love expressive washes and subtle light.
🇳🇱 Van Gogh (Royal Talens) – A wonderful balance of quality and value. Vibrant, dependable and often recommended as one of the finest student-grade watercolours.
🇬🇧 Winsor & Newton Cotman – A trusted companion for sketchbooks and travel. Reliable, easy to use and an excellent introduction to the medium.
🇬🇧 Daler-Rowney Aquafine – Affordable and approachable, making it a lovely choice for anyone beginning their watercolour journey.
🇯🇵 Sakura Koi – Compact, colourful and designed with urban sketching and travel in mind.
Every palette tells a different story. Some invite bold expression, while others whisper with quiet transparency. In the end, the finest paints are simply the ones that inspire us to slow down, observe, and capture the beauty of a fleeting moment.
