Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us for the opening of Ink and Paper 10 Years On last Saturday ✨

Marking ten years of Primz Gallery made the occasion especially meaningful, and we are grateful to have shared it with such a wonderful community of friends, collectors and art lovers.

A special highlight was having artists Lim Choon Jin and Goh Beng Kwan () present to speak about their works - a rare opportunity that made the afternoon truly memorable.

Thank you for celebrating this milestone with us!

Cheong Soo Pieng

In the early 1960s, Cheong Soo Pieng was exploring how to make modern art feel distinctly Southeast Asian.

In Cowherd, you can see bold, geometric forms inspired by Cubism but reinterpreted through the fluidity of Chinese ink traditions.

Instead of copying Western modernism, he made it his own. Completed in 1961, this work marks a significant moment in his artistic journey.

Come and experience this iconic piece, along with many other remarkable works, at our opening next week:

Ten years ago, Primz Gallery opened its doors for the very first time.

This year, we mark that milestone by returning to where it all began - ink and paper.

Ink and Paper 10 Years On: Selection from the Linda Neo and Albert Lim Collection is a homecoming exhibition that pays homage to the resilience and legacies of Singapore’s pioneer artists.

Spanning works created between 1961 and 2013, the exhibition brings together 14 modern artists whose mastery of ink and paper reveals the enduring expressive power of these humble materials and their ability to speak to contemporary concerns across generations.

On 7 March, we open our doors once more -
to a decade of stories still unfolding.

Attendance is limited to 35 guests to ensure an intimate viewing experience. Please register your interest via the link in bio.

We look forward to welcoming you! ✨

🖤 Remembering Lim Tze Peng
1921–2025

One year on, we remember Mr Lim Tze Peng. Not only as one of Singapore’s most revered artists, but as someone we were deeply privileged to know.

In 2010, we hosted My Kampong, My Home: Lim Tze Peng, an exhibition that brought together his early works depicting kampong life in Singapore. It was a significant exhibition for us as collectors that we remember fondly.

From his early days as an art educator to becoming a full-time artist later in life, Mr Lim’s practice was marked by quiet discipline, humility, and deep love for Singapore. His ink paintings and calligraphy continue to remind us of where we came from and the stories worth holding on to.

We remain grateful for the years of friendship, trust, and encouragement he extended to us and our family. His legacy lives on in his works, and in the many lives he has touched.

As Paradise Is At The Tip Of A Needle comes to an end, we’re filled with gratitude - for everyone who stepped into the space, spent time with us, asked questions, and shared in the conversations along the way.

Yesterday’s tour was its curtain call. One final walk-through, one last exchange, before the lights dimmed and the work of deinstallation began. Behind the scenes: vacuumed artworks and careful hands taking down what had been so thoughtfully put up.

Thank you to everyone who was part of Paradise Is At The Tip Of A Needle. This chapter ends here, but the story continues.

The next one is already in the works 👀 look out for it!

Thank you .singapore for this feature!

We are proud to be highlighted as one of Singapore’s private collectors who have made contributions to the local art ecosystem 🖼️

“Another example is Primz Gallery, established by prominent Singaporean collectors Linda Neo and Albert Lim in 2014. Their shows explore socio-political themes and encourage deeper engagement with Singapore and the region, often in conjunction with Art SG and SEA Focus’s VIP programmes.“

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: IAN TEE

Ian Tee’s ‘History Keeps Me Awake At Night’ employs a range of abstract painting gestures to address a largely forgotten episode of police heavy-handed excess also known as the “Fort Road Incident” in Tanjong Rhu. ‘History Keeps Me Awake at Night’ integrates collage elements that both reference this incident and comment on the culture of forgetting in Singapore. Included in the work are the cover of Singaporean author Alfian Saat’s notable book of poems ‘A History of Amnesia’, a map of the Tanjong Rhu location where the entrapment took place, and Tee’s signature carved strokes across his paintings. These marks symbolise the number of cane strokes inflicted on those found guilty in the Tanjong Rhu operation; a reminder of the lasting impact of the event for the community.

Exhibition is open now till July 6 and visits are by appointment only.
