SINGAPORE — Opening today: 'Indoor Weather' by Yasmin Sison

In 'Indoor Weather', Yasmin Sison presents a new series of paintings, works on paper, and collages that continue her decades-long exploration of interior spaces. Central to the exhibition are Sison’s constructed interiors: miniature, box-like environments developed over time in the studio alongside flowers gathered during her daily walks. These parallel acts of collecting and building converge in compositions where time appears suspended, often in the quiet light of late afternoon or early evening. It is in these enclosed spaces that she contemplates a world outside by creating compositions from articles of imposed femininity as they are held abidingly indoors.

'Indoor Weather' by Yasmin Sison is on view until 30 May 2026 at Ames Yavuz Singapore. Join us for the opening reception later today, 18 April 4 - 6 PM in the presence of the artist.

MELBOURNE | NAARM — ‘Marking Memory’ by Kathy Temin is currently on display at the Melbourne Holocaust Museum

Leading Australian artist Kathy Temin presents a major exhibition at the Melbourne Holocaust Museum titled ‘Marking Memory’ bringing together over twenty years of artistic inquiry. As the daughter of a Holocaust survivor, Temin’s practice is deeply informed by personal history, art history and intergenerational dialogue. The exhibition explores both the private and collective nature of remembrance and includes sound and testimonies, inviting audiences to pause, reflect and consider their own relationship to these shared memories and histories.

Temin's largest remembrance sculpture, 'My Monument: Black Gardens (2010-2011)', is currently on display at the Art Gallery of New South Wales in the exhibition 'Super Nature'. Located on Lower Level 2 of the Naala Nura Building, the work will remain on view until February 2027. Its presentation creates a meaningful dialogue with the works on view at the Melbourne Holocaust Museum.

‘Marking Memory’ is on display at the Melbourne Holocaust Museum until 12 July 2026

LONDON — Opening 23 April: 'Symbolic Nature', by Brook Andrew, marking his first solo exhibition with the gallery in London.

Brook Andrew is an internationally recognised artist whose work has been exhibited at major institutions across Europe and Australia. He is also a leading advocate for Indigenous voices on the global stage, notably as Artistic Director of NIRIN, the 22nd Biennale of Sydney (2020).

In 'Symbolic Nature', Andrew presents a new body of work spanning collage, sculpture, and assemblage. Drawing on historical representations from his Wiradjuri Nation and neighbouring Nations, these works reframe inherited imagery through layered visual environments in which cultural symbols are accumulated, disrupted, and reconfigured.

Join us for an opening reception on 23 April, 6-8 PM, at Ames Yavuz London.

‘LEVIATHAN’ is on view until 16 May at Ames Yavuz Sydney.

SINGAPORE — Opening 18 April: Yasmin Sison, ‘Indoor Weather’

Continuing a three-decade exploration of interior spaces, ‘Indoor Weather’ by celebrated Filipino-painter Yasmin Sison brings together a new series of paintings, works on paper, and collages that examine the relationship between containment, memory, domesticity and femininity.

Through Sison’s pygmy interpolations of an internal life, conglomeration becomes improvisation; play becomes revolution. In this exhibition, she explores a pensive girlhood that persists in spite of the external affronts that trouble the enclosed space.

Join us on 18 April from 4 - 6pm at the opening of the exhibition, in the presence of the artist.

SYDNEY | GADIGAL — Opening 11 April, ‘LEVIATHAN’ curated by Anaïs Lellouche, featuring works by Monira Al Qadiri, Tamara Al-Samerraei, Ali Banisadr, Chioma Ebinama, Jessie French, Theo Triantafyllidis, and Frank Walter.

‘LEVIATHAN’ is an unknown force that lies in the abyss. For artists, fearless by nature, it also symbolises the power of creation. Their visions conjure and respond to the forces that lie in the underbelly of the earth. Artists featured in the exhibition draw on the power of water as a transformative medium through three main thematic threads: the Leviathan as a mythical force and catalyst for artistic imagination; art’s agency in response to the climate crisis through change making media; and the experience of sea journeys, migration, water rights, and their psychological impact.

Please join us on Saturday 11 April for a walk-through of the exhibition by Anaïs Lellouche at 3:30pm followed by the opening celebration from 4-6pm.

PERTH — South African artist Thania Petersen seeks to retell and reclaim histories and cultural memory with her major presentation at the Perth Festival that includes sound, scent, film and installation.

The multi-channel sound work ‘Jeiker’ (2026), co-commissioned by the John Curtin Gallery and the Perth Festival, uses recordings taken on site in Makassar, Indonesia in collaboration with Yolŋu and Makassan musicians who hold knowledge of their shared histories. With guidance from senior Yolŋu man Don Wininba Ganambarr, producer Michael Hohnen and performer and artist Abdi Karya, the work explores historical connections, linking northern Australia, Makassar and Cape Town.

A new iteration of her work Rampies Sny permeates the exhibition halls with what Petersen calls, ‘smells that recall a thousand places.’ Thania’s film JAWAP (2025) – an Australian premiere – traces the migration of Sufi music, exploring sound as a living archive, a force that transcends borders.

View Thania Petersen‘s works at John Curtin Gallery, Curtin University as part of the Perth Festival until 3 May 2026.
