Art that is experienced through touch doesn't fit neatly into the existing models we use to fund and sell art. It's often experienced solo or in small groups, for extended or repeated periods of time. Neither the gallery nor the theatre model fits, so should we look at the models of a barber? A subscription service? Something entirely new?

"Idag bildades plattformen och nätverket MAAPS (Mapping Asian Art Practices in Sweden) på Helix Art Space i Stockholm som samlar personer med bakgrund i fr a Öst- och Sydostasien men också Sydasien och som är verksamma inom den svenska konstvärlden. Bakom initiativet står Yul Cho, Letian Lois Ding, Ruoxi Gao och Ifra Shariq och på dagens grundandemöte presenterade flera konstnärer såsom Ting Wang, Jesper Bror Palmqvist och Nanna Li sina arbeten."

At HAS - Helix Art Space, we have built something that sits in the space between disciplines. Art and Entrereneurship. Where artists, curators, founders, researchers, technologists and cultural practitioners can meet, exchange ideas and challenge each other. Our HAS Creative Breakfast series, was created from that exact belief. An ongoing morning series where contemporary art, critical thinking, entrepreneurship and emerging cultural practices intersect through intimate talks and conversations high above Stockholm.

Tomorrow’s edition is especially close to our heart. Welcome!

Together with MAAPS (Mapping Asian Art Practices in Sweden), we open a space for conversations around visibility, representation, identity and artistic practices that too often exist separately from one another. MAAPS is an important initiative helping map and connect Asian art practitioners working in Sweden today, not by reducing practices into one identity, but by creating proximity, dialogue and visibility.

This is also what HAS aims to do in a broader sense: create bridges between worlds that do not always naturally meet.
