Over eleven months ago, more precisely, on a rainy Monday morning on June 16, 2025 at seven in the morning while I was having breakfast I encountered a disaster.
Disaster is, by definition, a kind of existential dissonance which manifests : a disruption to one’s personal and physical world order so profound that you don’t know where to file it , how to measure it, or even how to react - because you have no precedent, because it’s simply too big of a violation to grasp.
The aftereffect of uncertainty and disturbance wipes away almost everything one treasures, everything but hope.
Hope ... I’d like to quote passage from Rebecca Solnit’s Hope in the Dark.
”Hope, is not a belief that everything was, is, or will be fine. The evidence is all around us of tremendous suffering and tremendous destruction. (...) Hope locates itself in the premises that we don’t know what will happen and that in the speciousness of uncertainty is room to act. When you recognize uncertainty, you recognize that you may be able to influence the outcome - you alone or you in concert with a few dozens of several million others.”
[Your] participation makes you become part of those several millions others to whom I’m gratefully in debt forever.
