August is here, and with it comes a short summer break for 𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐀 𝐒ðĐ𝐚𝐭ĖĶðĒðŪ, 𝐌𝐕 𝐎𝐜ðĒ-𝐚ðŦ𝐭 𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞ðŦ, and 𝐇𝐚ðĒðĪðŪ 𝐂ðĻ𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐞 𝐒ðĐ𝐚𝐜𝐞.

Throughout the month, we’ll be preparing a series of exciting changes and working behind the scenes on new projects that you’ll discover when we reopen in September. We have plenty of surprises waiting for you.

At 𝐌𝐕 𝐎𝐜ðĒ-𝐚ðŦ𝐭 𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞ðŦ, a new season of projects will bring together art, science, and thought-provoking ideas through exhibitions, workshops, and events that invite you to take part.

At 𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐀 𝐒ðĐ𝐚𝐭ĖĶðĒðŪ, September will mark the opening of a new exhibition season with a brand-new exhibition that we can’t wait to share with you.

Straturile de culoare, ritmul gesturilor și variațiile de lumină păstrează urmele timpului petrecut ÃŪn fața unui peisaj, a unui obiect sau a unei situații. Layers of colour, the rhythm of gestures, and subtle shifts of light preserve traces of time spent in front of a landscape, an object, or a particular situation. Rather than seeking a faithful representation of reality, the image condenses an experience that continues to exist through memory and the materiality of paint.

𝐍𝐎𝐈𝐌𝐀 is an artist collective founded in Timișoara in 2003, currently comprising 𝐂ðĒðĐðŦðĒ𝐚𝐧 𝐁ðĻ𝐝𝐞𝐚, 𝐃𝐚𝐧 ð†ðĄðžðŦðĶ𝐚𝐧, 𝐂ðĻ𝐎ðĶðĒ𝐧 𝐅ðŦðŪ𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐎ĖĶ, 𝐀𝐧𝐝ðŦ𝐞ðĒ 𝐑ðĻ𝐎𝐞𝐭𝐭ðĒ and 𝐒ðĻðŦðĒ𝐧 𝐒𝐜ðŪðŦ𝐭ðŪðĨ𝐞𝐎𝐜ðŪ. Over more than two decades of activity, the group has developed an artistic practice grounded in dialogue, observation, and collective inquiry, exploring the relationship between painting, nature, memory, and the direct experience of place. Curating Index of Absence meant bringing together five artists whose practices remain deeply individual while sharing a common way of engaging with the world through observation. In this conversation, curator Mirela Stoeac-Vlăduți reflects on NOIMA’s more than twenty-year history, the dialogue between individual and collective practice, and the exhibition’s central premise: understanding absence not as emptiness, but as a dense field of memory, traces, and relationships that continue to shape what we see.

În practica lui 𝐂ðĒðĐðŦðĒ𝐚𝐧 𝐁ðĻ𝐝𝐞𝐚, structura și organicitatea coexistă ÃŪntr-o tensiune productivă. Artistul stabilește cadrul și inițiază procesul, dar acceptă că materia ÃŪși va urma propria logică de dezvoltare. Semințele, materialul și gestul devin agenții transformării, iar controlul este ÃŪnlocuit treptat de observație. Absența reprezentării figurative nu este rezultatul unei simplificări formale, ci o decizie metodologică prin care structura este lăsată să vorbească de la sine, iar procesele de creștere și transformare devin subiectul lucrării.

The artist establishes the framework and initiates the process while accepting that the material will follow its own logic of development. Seeds, matter, and gesture become agents of transformation, as control gradually gives way to observation. The absence of figurative representation is not the result of formal reduction, but a methodological decision that allows structure to speak for itself, making processes of growth and transformation the central subject of the work.

𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 ð­ðĄðž 𝐚ðŦ𝐭ðĒ𝐎𝐭 — 𝐂ðĒðĐðŦðĒ𝐚𝐧 𝐁ðĻ𝐝𝐞𝐚 | 𝐍𝐎𝐈𝐌𝐀

Careful observation of the natural world lies at the core of 𝐂ðĒðĐðŦðĒ𝐚𝐧 𝐁ðĻ𝐝𝐞𝐚’s (b. 1979, Cugir, Romania) artistic practice. Approaching painting as a process of exploration and discovery, he investigates the hidden structures that emerge through prolonged engagement with natural forms. Rather than documenting nature as it appears, his works reflect an ongoing search for the relationships that connect organic growth, perception, and geometry.

This approach is exemplified in his recent works inspired by apple blossoms. Observing recurring floral arrangements in the landscape, Bodea became interested in the possibility that these organic formations could suggest underlying geometric configurations. Beginning with the shape of a single petal, he digitally reconstructed a structure resembling half of a dodecahedron, proposing a visual dialogue between direct observation, natural growth, and geometric order.
