For four days, Mediaș becomes a meeting point for contemporary art, bringing together artists, curators, galleries and local communities through exhibitions, talks and site-specific projects across the city.

We're excited to present a selection of works by Luana Cloșcă, Abel Rad, Ingrid Farcaș, Mihai Grecu, Mircea But, Victoria Sadovnic, Nicolae Romanițan, Sasha Bandi, Matei Țigăreanu, Dan Beudean and David Farcaș at Casa Schuler, alongside Jecza Gallery as well as at Casa de Cultura a Sindicatelor.

A heartfelt thank you to Radu Oreian and the entire team behind this wonderful initiative. We can't wait to see you in Mediaș!

„We rarely want to go back in time. To relive certain experiences, to see loved ones again, to change certain decisions, or to take a closer look at the places that once surrounded us. Behind this desire, in fact, lies the need to return to a familiar space, to a place where we felt safe and full of hope. A place of balance, an ideal place. In reality, however, going back is not possible. We can only take refuge in memories or in an imaginary space.
Nostalgia thus becomes the leitmotif of the works created by the artist Lavinia Maria Oniciuc. Coming from the Greek nostos (return) and algos (longing, pain), the term essentially describes a response to the awareness of impermanence, to the fear of change, to the fear of the ephemeral. The atmosphere of her works does not evoke a specific place, but rather conjures up the very nostalgic feeling itself The paintings bring to the forefront the ideal space to which we long to return or which we wish to find again.
The balance construced in the artist's compositions is outlined by the dominant presence of the color green, a color that is born from the tension between two chromatic extremes: yellow and blue. This symbolizes, in fact, reality and the ideal, two opposing states that the artist explores.
The limited chromatic palette contributes to the emotional intensity of the works. The dark tones create a depressing, sad, and introspective atmosphere, while the subtle transitions to brighter areas or vibrant chromatic accents suggest the desire for transformation, change, anchoring in reality, and fear of the unknown. The chromatic oscillation is not just a formal choice but reflects the process of a search.“ (excerpt from the curatorial text)

We're happy to announce the opening of a new exhibition .gallery!

Next Friday, on May 22nd, we invite you to the opening of Mircea But's solo show, curated by Norbert Filep.

This evening is also very special to us because we'll be celebrating 4 years since the gallery first opened its doors. 🩶

“The punctiform structure constitutes a latent logic of the image. The mosaic-like nature operates through the resolution marked by the totality of points on a delimited surface, without permanently fixing the level of clarity of the image. In Mircea But’s recent works, resolution becomes an inverted process, a form of pixelation of immediate nature through brushstrokes, where information is simultaneously articulated and displaced.
A dilation of time becomes the balance of the painterly act.” (excerpt from the curatorial text by Norbert Filep)

We will welcome you with the same energy that has kept us going for the past four years and continues to push this journey forward 💫

„Within a territory that negates the logic of this world, we encounter Ingrid Farcaș’s fantastic weavings, functioning as the subject of the sentence with mythical consistency. Tapestry-painting becomes the primary direction through which she constructs narratives that interlace the real and the imaginary. Figures with mystical traits, animals displaced from their natural habitats, and natural as well as architectural elements merge harmoniously into metaphysical worlds, carefully planned stitch by stitch.”
