On September 10 and 11, the Air Museum participated in the RAF Museum Conference 2026, themed "Hearts, Minds and Airspace: Air Power, Humanitarianism and Counterinsurgency."
As one of only three institutions from non-English speaking countries to have its work accepted for presentation, the Director of the Air Museum, Colonel Carlos Mouta Raposo, delivered a paper entitled "The Portuguese Air Force in the Overseas War (1961-1975)," part of a program comprising 27 presentations over the two-day conference.
This opportunity to share knowledge before an audience of experts in aeronautical history and air power, gathered at one of the world's leading aeronautical museums, made it possible to showcase a significant period in the history of Portuguese military aviation, as well as to promote the work carried out by the Air Museum in the preservation, research, and enhancement of national aeronautical heritage.
