: A CLOSER LOOK AT ALMADA NEGREIROS
A few centimeters from Almada Negreiros.
Today, Inês Sarmento and I climbed the scaffolding at the Alcântara Maritime Station to follow the conservation of his murals up close.

In a restricted visit with art historian Mariana Pinto dos Santos, World Monuments Fund Portugal and Nova Conservação’s conservators, you see gesture, material and time marks unfold.

In my art advisory practice, access like this builds an informed eye: knowing a work also means understanding its material history and care.

Privileged to witness it within the WMF Portugal project with Porto de Lisboa.

: VANESSA TEODORO | A CLOSER LOOK
Recognition is one thing. Evolution is another.
Over nearly two decades, Vanessa Teodoro has built an unmistakable visual language, one that has travelled across exhibitions, public space and collaborations with some of the world’s most recognisable brands.

What interests us now, however, is not where that language has been.

It is where it is going.

In her latest body of work, familiar elements remain - line, repetition, contrast, rhythm - but something is shifting.

The work becomes more tactile. More material. Different techniques and different hands enter the process. Surfaces acquire weight. Pattern becomes object. Graphic precision begins to coexist with imperfection, memory and gesture.

These are not details from a new artist finding her language.

They are details from an established artist expanding it.

A first look at selected works and processes from Vanessa Teodoro’s current practice.

More to be revealed at MOTHER — A Metamorfose da Criação.

: TODAY AT SERRALVES
A morning moving through one of Portugal’s most important cultural institutions, and a particularly strong programme spanning contemporary art, modern masters, architecture and collecting.

From Jenny Holzer’s Wrong Answers and Alice Neel’s Beautifully Imperfect to Vexation of Spirit: The Duerckheim Collection x Serralves, Pedro Henriques’ Espasmo Quadrado and Frank Gehry’s O século de Gehry - different practices, generations and perspectives, brought together within the singular context of Serralves.

More than an exhibition space, Serralves remains a reference point: for its curatorial ambition, its international perspective and the exceptional dialogue it creates between art, architecture and landscape.

For Lisbon Art Office, being an art advisor also means being present - seeing, researching, questioning and keeping a close eye on the artists, institutions and ideas shaping the art world today.

Always looking. Always connecting. Always bringing that knowledge back to our clients.

: INVITATION - PRIVATE PERSPECTIVES
Art, Space and Contemporary Living at Galardi.

What happens when contemporary art enters a space not simply to be seen, but to change the way we experience it?

On 17 September, Lisbon Art Office and JLL Residential Portugal open PRIVATE PERSPECTIVES, a temporary art intervention at Galardi, Monte Estoril.

For fifteen days, a carefully curated selection of contemporary works will inhabit two distinct residences - OCEAN and GARDEN - in dialogue with their architecture, light, materials and landscape.

For the opening evening, at 7pm, LAO will lead a private curatorial tour through OCEAN & GARDEN, revealing the works, the artists and the thinking behind their relationship with each space.

An invitation to experience art and contemporary living, from a different perspective.

Opening | 17 September, 6–8pm
Private OCEAN & GARDEN Tour by LAO | 7pm
Galardi, Monte Estoril

Want to join us?
DM PRIVATE to Lisbon Art Office | Art Advisory for opening details and availability.

On view until 2 October.

Curated by Lisbon Art Office for JLL Residential Portugal.

: Art is everywhere. Access is not.
In my latest The LAO Perspective for PlumiNews, I look at something increasingly valuable in today’s art world: proximity.

In a time when we can see almost everything through a screen, being invited into an artist’s studio, encountering the work where it is conceived, understanding its process, materials and context, and having the opportunity for a real conversation, has acquired a different kind of relevance.

Recent studio visits became the perfect lens through which to explore this shift. Because experiencing art today is no longer only about seeing the finished work. It is also about understanding what surrounds it: the artist, the process, the place, the stories and the relationships that give it meaning.

And this is increasingly part of what we do at Lisbon Art Office: creating meaningful access and bringing clients closer to the people, places and ideas behind the art.

My second The LAO Perspective is now live on PlumiNews: “It is no longer enough to see art. We want to be close to it.”

In a time when we can see almost everything through a screen, being invited into an artist’s studio, encountering the work where it is conceived, understanding its process, materials and context, and having the opportunity for a real conversation, has acquired a different kind of relevance.

: VENICE, CURATED
Venice in September is never just about the Biennale.
Lisbon Art Office was in Venice accompanying a private client through a carefully curated programme, from selected Biennale presentations and exhibitions across the city to private visits, dinners and some of the art and cultural moments shaping la rentrée.

For us, art advisory extends well beyond selecting works. It is about knowing what to see, where to look, whom to meet and when access matters.

Each journey is conceived around the client: their collection, interests and curiosity, combining research, privileged access, art procurement and the conversations that allow us to look further and buy better.

Because collecting is also about being in the right places, with the right context.

: A NEW ARTISTIC JOURNEY BEGINS.

Some collaborations happen because they make perfect strategic sense. Others because they simply feel right.

We’re delighted to welcome Vanessa Teodoro to the Lisbon Art Office Circle.

Recognised for her distinctive visual language and for building a remarkable career across contemporary art, public art and collaborations with international brands, Vanessa continues to challenge the boundaries between artistic practice and creative industries.

Over the coming months, we will be working closely together on the strategic direction and executive management of her forthcoming solo exhibition, an intimate yet universal reflection on memory, femininity, craftsmanship, nature and transformation.

But this is only the beginning.

From a new exhibition to future editions, conversations, collaborations and projects, there is much more to discover.

Follow this journey with us.

Save this post and turn on notifications so you don’t miss what’s coming next.

See you soon.

Vanessa Teodoro
