W drugiej połowie listopada, po międzynarodowej premierze artystycznego serialu „Theory of Seeing”, odbędzie się polski pokaz serii w Narodowym Centrum Kultury Filmowej w Łodzi. Cztery filmy rozwijają idee Władysława Strzemińskiego, nadając im nowe konteksty.
Anton Vidokle i Liam Gillick stworzyli reinterpretację zatytułowaną „Theory of Vision” – choreograficzny odczyt rysunków Strzemińskiego. Twórcy, których prace są częścią wystaw „Dary przyjaźni” oraz „Sposoby widzenia”, przełożyli diagramy z książki na instrukcje dla ruchu ciała i kamery. W bohatera odcinka wcielił się aktor Jim Fletcher, a nagrania odbyły się w Łodzi, m.in. we wnętrzach ms¹ oraz na basenie modernistycznego budynku YMCA.
Partnerami projektu są e-flux oraz Instytut Kultury Polskiej w Nowym Jorku.

In the second half of November, following the international premiere of the art series “Theory of Seeing”, the series will be screened in Poland at the National Centre for Film Culture in Łódź. Four films develop Władysław Strzemiński’s ideas in new contexts.
Anton Vidokle and Liam Gillick created “Theory of Vision” – a choreographic interpretation of Strzemiński’s drawings. The artists, whose works are part of the exhibitions “Gifts of Friendship” and “Ways of Seeing,” translated the diagrams from the book into instructions for body movement and camera work. Actor Jim Fletcher plays the main character, and filming took place in Łódź, including the interiors of ms1 and the swimming pool of the modernist YMCA building.
The project’s partners are e-flux and the Polish Cultural Institute in New York.
