The National History Museum welcomed H.E. Mr Akamatsu Shuichi, Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan, along with esteemed diplomats from the Embassy of Japan.

Museum Director Awais Malik and the NHM team received the delegation and led them on a guided tour of the museum, introducing them to the diverse narratives of Pakistan’s history and cultural heritage. Mr Akamatsu Shuichi interacted with NHM’s immersive displays, including the Virtual Reality Train and Camera From the Past (CFTP). Opportunities for Pakistan-Japan cultural exchange were also discussed.

At the National History Museum, Daak brought the longing, resilience, and agony of Partition through a dramatic reading of Partition Letters 1947. The event resonated deeply with the audience as many reflected, engaged, and shared stories passed down by their grandparents, creating a powerful connection with history, memories, and one another.

Our heartfelt thanks to Adeel Afzal for breathing life into these stories through such a powerful performance, and to our wonderful audience for making the day memorable.

Marking Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day, the National History Museum hosted an insightful panel talk, Making of Home: Memory, Migration, and New Beginnings.

All the conversations were deeply rooted in the memories of Partition, the undivided love across borders, and cultural cuisines that have continued to influence their perspectives, work, and understanding of home.
