National Museum Islamabad Our Heritage is Our Pride The Museum was shifted to the present premises (located in Burns Garden, Dr. Zia-ud-Din Ahmed Road).

Soon after independence, plan to establish a National museum of Pakistan portraying the personality of newly born state was considered by the Federal Government . A national museum was established in Frere Hall at Karachi and was inaugurated on 17th April, 1950 by Khawaja Nazimudden, then Governor General of Pakistan. After shifting of Federal capital to Islamabad the necessity of Establishment of

National Museum realized. In view of the importance of National Museum of Pakistan at Islamabad, a plot measuring 3.24 acres located at Shakar Parian near lok virsa complex was earmarked by the C.D.A for the said project in 1970. A nucleus of the National Museum of Pakistan, Islamabad was established in a private house in E-7 Sector, Islamabad in 1994. In 1998 the project was rolled back and its display artifacts were stored in Taxila Museum. In 2002 the nucleus of a National museum at Islamabad was again established in Sir Syed Memorial Building G.5/1, Attaturk Avenue Islamabad.

EXHIBITION OF REPATRIATED ARTEFACTS AT PAKISTAN NATIONAL COUNCIL OF ARTS (PNCA), ISLAMABAD The National Heritage & Culture Division is presenting a special exhibition featuring Pakistan's cultural property repatriated from the United Kingdom and United States of America. These artefacts, which were illicitly smuggled out of the country, have been returned in accordance with the UNESCO Convention on the Means of Prohibiting and Preventing the Illicit Import, Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property, 1970. The exhibition will take place at Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA), Islamabad, from 24th to 28th February 2025, from 10am to 5pm. This event showcases Pakistan's rich cultural heritage and emphasizes the importance of international cooperation in the protection and restitution of stolen cultural artefacts.
