Our very own Zamboanga City Museum - El Museo de Zamboanga

Ordinance no. 378 - an ordinance establishing the Zamboanga City Museum Otherwise known as the "El Museo de Zamboanga" at Jardin Maria Clara Lobregat Complex, Pasonanca Zamboanga City. "El Museo de Zamboanga" or the Zamboanga City Museum shall house valuable artifacts, items, collections, memorabilia, that have historical, social and cultural significance of Zamboanga. The museum will enhnce the

interest of the people, particularly the young, for them to appreciate the past and diverse cultural personality of Zamboangueños and educate, enlighten, and immerse them on how the City came to be by re-presenting the "old" settings to the future.

Welcome to the team, Batch 3 interns! ✨
El Museo de Zamboanga proudly welcomes the 3rd Batch of Bachelor of Arts in History interns from Western Mindanao State University.

The internship program officially commenced with an engaging orientation, providing the interns with an overview of the museum’s mission, vision, and operations. This was followed by a guided tour experience, allowing them to familiarize themselves with the rich cultural heritage and historical collections housed within the museum.

As part of their immersive training, the interns will actively participate in various museum processes such as tour guiding, proper handling of artifacts, research, and cultural mapping. These hands-on experiences aim to enhance their academic knowledge while developing practical skills essential in the field of history and museum work.

El Museo de Zamboanga remains committed to nurturing future historians and cultural workers by providing meaningful learning opportunities that promote the preservation and appreciation of Zamboanga’s heritage.

El Museo de Zamboanga warmly welcomes the Batch 2 BA History interns from Western Mindanao State University.

Sharing some snapshots from the first two weeks of their internship. During the first week, the interns underwent an orientation led by the museum staff focusing on museum tour guiding, research, cultural mapping, and inventory, essential skills in museum and heritage work.

They will be staying with us for the entire month of March as they continue to gain valuable experience and deepen their appreciation of Zamboanga’s rich history and culture.

LOOK | The Naval Command Course (NCC) Class 13, composed of 85 participants together with their training officers from the Naval Officers School Center, visited El Museo de Zamboanga as part of their educational exposure and cultural familiarization in Zamboanga City. ⚓🏛️

During the visit, the participants explored the museum’s galleries and learned about the rich history, culture, and heritage of Zamboanga, gaining a deeper appreciation of the city’s historical narratives and diverse traditions.

We thank the Naval Command Course Class 13 for taking the time to visit El Museo de Zamboanga and for their interest in learning more about the cultural heritage of our city.

A proud and memorable moment as the LCCAH Oath-Taking Ceremony was successfully conducted and led by our City Mayor, Capt. Khymer Adan Olaso. This meaningful event marked the official pledge of the newly appointed members to serve the community with integrity, dedication, and commitment.

LOOK | The Local Council for Culture, Arts and History (LCCAH) convened its first meeting for 2026 last February 13 with the newly appointed council members, together with City Mayor Capt. Khymer Adan T. Olaso.

Key discussions included expanded heritage preservation efforts, updates on the 2025 Cultural Development Plan, promotion of the Chabacano language, cultural publications, and preparations for the Council’s official oath-taking and the 2027 Cultural Development Plan.

The LCCAH continues to work towards preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Zamboanga City.
