Another cave, another story waiting to be explored!

Join us on 𝟮𝟲 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 as we continue our 𝗧𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗻 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁 journey and visit 𝗚𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗮 𝗥𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿, one of the archaeological sites within the Tabon Cave Complex and Lipuun Point.

•Wear 𝗵𝗶𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗿𝗺𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝘀 to help lessen mosquito bites.

In celebration of Civil Service Month and as part of our Visitor Engagement Activity, Tabon Quest, we are excited to head to a site named after a retired employee of the National Museum of the Philippines- Tabon Cave Complex.

Our second and final Tabon Quest stop for this month takes us to the 𝗚𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗮 𝗥𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿!

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁. 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗲𝗱!

In celebration of Civil Service Month and our ongoing , we visited the first of two caves to be explored this month during our activity last Saturday, September 19, 2026. These caves are named in honor of individuals who have dedicated their service, past and present, to the National Museum of the Philippines- Tabon Cave Complex.

We explored the Arcoyo Cave, named after Engineering Aide Franklin C. Arcoyo, as recently featured in our Cave Series.

With our twice-a-month Tabon Quest, we are truly overwhelmed by the immense support from our regular questers, as well as our new, eager visitors who enthusiastically shared their experiences after successfully registering on time. 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘵 𝘱𝘰!

𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗠 𝗡𝗠𝗣-𝗕𝗨𝗧𝗨𝗔𝗡 𝗧𝗢 𝗡𝗠𝗣-𝗧𝗔𝗕𝗢𝗡!🏛️✈️ 🏛️

𝗠𝗿. 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗲𝗹 𝗗. 𝗣𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀, a resident of Butuan City, visited us last Saturday, 19 September 2026, making his NMP-Tabon experience extra special.

His visit became the first NMP Passport to be inked at NMP-Tabon by a visitor coming from another NMP museum, and what makes it even more special is that it was already his stamp, after visiting 15 museums of the National Museum of the Philippines across the country!

And he did not simply drop by for a stamp. He energetically completed the Tabon Caves Tour and even joined us for Tabon Quest: Arcoyo Cave in the afternoon!

𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗙𝗨𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘 𝗔𝗥𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗘𝗢𝗟𝗢𝗚𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗦! 🪨🔎

It was only the first day of our “𝗗𝗶𝗴 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗯𝗼𝘅!” Visitor Engagement Activity, but the enthusiasm we witnessed yesterday already made this experience truly special.

We welcomed the Grade 6-Einstein pupils of Quezon Central School, together with other young visitors who came especially to experience the activity. From the moment they began exploring, we saw their curiosity, active participation, and eagerness to learn. It was even more meaningful to see many of them accompanied and supported by their parents.

Through this activity, our young participants were introduced to the basics of archaeological survey and excavation, the proper handling and care of artifacts and specimens, and the process of archaeological excavation through a fun and interactive sandbox experience.

As the first activity of its kind in Palawan, it’s more than just an opportunity to learn how archaeologists work! It is also our way of introducing archaeology to young minds, nurturing their curiosity about the past, and inspiring them to appreciate and perhaps one day contribute to the field.

Seeing their excitement reminded us why activities like this matter. The future of archaeology may very well begin with a handful of sand, a curious mind, and the desire to discover what lies beneath.
