๐ต๐ญ Pagpupugay sa mga Babaeng Bayani ngayong Araw ng Kalayaan!
The story of Philippine independence was shaped by countless individuals whose courage and dedication helped pave the way toward freedom, especially women whose contributions have often gone unrecognized.
At the Tandang Sora Women's Museum, we celebrate Independence Day in honor of Marina Dizon, who joined the Katipunan in 1893 and was elected as the first Secretary of the Katipunanโs womenโs chapter. She would perform in front of the Guardia Civil to divert attention from secret revolutionary meetings. While fleeing the Guardia Civil, she burned important Katipunan documents to prevent their capture.
As we commemorate the 128th Philippine Independence Day, let us remember not only the triumph of a nation but also the many Filipinas who nurtured it, supported revolutionary efforts, and advocated for a better nation. Their stories remind us that patriotism takes many forms: through service, resilience, and care for others. ๐บ
