We are pleased to present RESTY TICA’s solo exhibition, “Morning’s Gentle Bloom.”

In Resty Tica’s first solo show at Avellana Art Gallery, the artist invites us to pause and witness the subtle unfolding of a day—the surprises it carries, the challenges it brings, and the quiet moments that ask us simply to be present.

Known for his bright hues and bold impastos, Tica reflects on the natural flow of life: how time shapes us, how growth emerges in unexpected ways, and how transformation often happens in the softest, gentlest shifts. Through his works, he explores the passage of time alongside one’s personal journey, uncovering little surprises when we allow ourselves to move with the natural rhythm of the day rather than against it.

The exhibition encourages viewers to embrace the unknown—to just let go and allow events to happen as they should. “Morning’s Gentle Bloom” is a reminder to appreciate the present moment and allow growth to unfold at its own pace.

“Morning’s Gentle Bloom” opens on December 6, Saturday, 6 p.m.

We are pleased to present RICK HERNANDEZ’ solo exhibition “Geometric Fuzz.”

Inspired by a graphic design term that refers to geometric patterns in abstract form, Hernandez’ “Geometric Fuzz” delves into a deeper exploration into creating pattern-like compositions out of basic lines and shapes. From circles, squares, and ovals, he incorporates random silhouettes of everyday objects like jars, balusters and the like, to present a playful exploration of forms.

The basic foundation of each painting is the toned background of graphite and acrylic mixed with various solutions, with the chemical reactions between the different medium creating interesting layers and textures. By intentionally disrupting these shapes and forms that are left imperfect, his works drift towards abstraction, leaving the artist’s presence behind each painting.

Overall, “Geometric Fuzz” bridges structure and spontaneity, with geometry providing
some sort of order while the “fuzz” allows the viewers to have their own interpretation of Hernandez’ work.

“Geometric Fuzz” opens on December 6, Saturday, 6 p.m.

Mike GONZALES (b. 1974) graduated from the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) with a degree in Bachelor of Fine Arts, major in Advertising. He was an educator and graphic design instructor before going full-time as an artist.

A 2004 Metrobank Art and Design Excellence (MADE) awardee for the Water Media Category, Gonzales firmly believes that nature is a well-spring of life’s deepest truths. His art practice centers on using acrylics and textured canvases, alongside glazing techniques, to create either transparency or richly layered pieces that are inspired by and evocative of his deeply emotional experience with greenery and foliage.

“Garden Variety,” opening on June 12, is Gonzales’ first solo show at the Avellana Art Gallery.

With an artistic career spanning almost six decades, 𝗜𝘃𝗶 𝗔𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗼 has made quite a mark in Philippine art scene. Ivi has always been surrounded by and immersed in the arts since her youth — her parents Lamberto Avellana and Daisy Hontiveros-Avellana are both National Artists, after all — so it comes as no surprise that she embarked on her own creative journey as well, and collected a number of awards and accolades along the way.

Her many works reflect her deep interest and love for Filipino culture, music, theater, film, and more. Her creative and adventurous spirit soared alongside her husband, fellow artist Allan Cosio, with whom she bore two daughters, Dana and Ina. The recent special group exhibit at Art Fair Philippines, “Pambabae: Exploring Abstractions by Women Artists 1969-1989,” was a wonderful reintroduction of her works to a new generation of artists and art lovers who are eager to see more from her.
