The UNC Museum is deeply thankful to the following individuals, groups, and institutions who share our vision of nurturing a deeper love for our heritage, language, and culture.

From classrooms to communities, from language and literature to tourism, film, archives, and cultural mapping, we are grateful for every opportunity to work together:

• Reading in Philippine History classes — for bringing local history closer to students and making the museum a space for meaningful learning.

• Padamlagan Creative Team — for an exciting film collaboration coming this October.

• UNC Graduate Studies Program — for the engaging conversation on Language and Literature, reminding us of the important connection between language, memory, and identity.

• City Tourism and Investment Office — for partnering with us in conducting training-workshops for Naga City Guides and developing new Heritage Walk concepts.

• PhilWiki Community — for choosing the UNC Museum as the host venue for the culmination of History and Language Month.

• Sir Kristian Cordero of Savage Mind — for a brewing exhibition with us this December.

• LGU Balatan — for working with us on the conceptualization of an ecotourism initiative and the mapping of tangible cultural properties this September.

These collaborations remind us that a museum is not simply a place where the past is kept. It is a place where people come together to understand, create, remember, and imagine what comes next.

HISTORY MONTH UNFOLDS

We end History Month by turning our attention to something that makes history possible in the first place—preserving the records that tell our stories.

In partnership with PhilWiki, the UNC Museum hosted a training on archival documentation and preservation last August 31, bringing together students from Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), Pili; Bicol State College of Applied Sciences and Technology (BISCAST); and the University of Nueva Caceres (UNC).

The training was facilitated by PhilWiki moderators, who shared their knowledge and practical approaches to documenting, organizing, and preserving archival materials.

This endeavor is more than a training. It is part of a growing effort to build a community that understands the value of our documentary heritage and is equipped to help preserve it.

THEIR STORY

We ended History Month with an awesome crowd of people who share the same passion for heritage and history. We were joined by friends from the Nueva Caceres Heritage Movement, Bikol Wiki Community, architecture students, and seasoned bloggers from both local and national platforms.

But this was more than just a heritage tour - it was a day of stories, flavors, adventure, and unforgettable views.

Our itinerary brought us to the table for a hearty lunch featuring Tinumtuman - thinly sliced bamboo shoots cooked in coconut milk with clams, ginger, garlic, and onions. For merienda, we enjoyed local kakanin and Libmanan's original toasted siopao from 3N Bakery, giving everyone a delicious taste of the town's culinary heritage.

Then came the climb: 166 steps to the top of Bulalacao Hills, where the effort was rewarded with a sweeping view of Libmanan's pristine rolling hills.

And just when we thought the day couldn't get any better, we took a thrilling skates ride along the Libmanan Bridge, where the vast landscape opened before us. As the sun began to set, its golden reflection stretched across the majestic Bicol River - a perfect ending to a day of discovering Libmanan.

Our little museum companion, Iggy - the namesake of our first curator, Ignacio Meliton - finally meets Prof. Ambeth Ocampo, one of the country’s most respected historians and storytellers.

It was a night of storytelling, of remembering, and rediscovering who we are as Filipinos.

MUSEO GANAP

The UNC Museum was honored to welcome 250 Junior High School students from Ateneo de Naga University, who visited to learn about local history and heritage while experiencing firsthand the growing museum tourism initiatives of the City. Their visit was more than a tour - it was an opportunity to see how our collections and stories connect to the places, people, and communities they know today.

We were also delighted to welcome the Naga City Youth Officials, City Guides, and Bachelor of Science in Tourism students of UNC, who helped facilitate the Naga Walk Tour on August 15 and 16. Their presence showed how heritage tourism becomes meaningful when young people take an active role in telling the story of their own city.

And among our distinguished visitors, we were deeply honored to welcome Engr. Mdumiseni Menze, keynote speaker of the International Research Conference on Technology, Engineering, Culture and Society, held at the University of Nueva Caceres from August 14 to 17.

From schoolchildren discovering local history, to young city guides leading heritage walks, to an international guest engaging with our cultural landscape, these encounters remind us that the museum is part of a much larger story.

> Together with City Tourism, we are exploring projects around train tourism, creating new ways to connect the city’s railway journey with its rich heritage and historical sites.

> Wikipedia's Proofreadathon is coming to UNC for our archives digitization in helping preserve fragile and valuable records so that they can be discovered and used by future generations.

From the railway tracks that connect our city to the archives that preserve its memory, these partnerships remind us that heritage is not something that belongs only in the past.
